Leviathan Brothers
Leviathan Brothers are an American jazz group. The group consists of Sean O'Connell, on two keyboards and a sampler and Miles Senzaki on drums, both acoustic and electric. Their repertoire consists of rock covers (David Bowie, Cold War Kids, Air) and originals, all played in an instrumental jazz style. History Avid fishermen since childhood, it was a during a night-time Marlin expedition off the coast of Cabo San Lucas where they encountered what they described as "two sea serpents twice the size of our boat playfully cavorting before us". The name "Leviathan Brothers" was the term they coined to describe the mysterious creatures they had seen. Their first album, "Leviathan Brothers", was recorded in 2005 with Wayne Peet and Miguel Sawaya on bass. It was recorded in three hours at Killzone Studios in Mar Vista, California. Jazz
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music. Red Rockets Glare is a Portland, OR recording studio, founded by musician, producer, and engineer Raymond Richards in 2003. The associated record label, Red Rockets Glare Records, has signed bands such as Frankel and the Leviathan Brothers, while artists that have recorded at the studio include The Broken West, Chapin Sisters, The Fling, The Monolators and My Own Holiday. Wayne Peet
Wayne Edward Peet (born December 6, 1954 in Dallas) is an American jazz pianist & organist active chiefly on the West Coast jazz scene. Peet began on piano at age six; he played in churches in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and California while young. He also played trombone but quit the instrument in his early 20s. He attended Westmont College from 1973 to 1977, where he was a founding member with John Rapson of the Frobisher Hall Art Ensemble. Peet moved to Los Angeles in 1978 to play with John Rapson. He played with Alex Cline, Nels Cline, Vinny Golia, and Steuart Liebig in the 1980s, and recorded for Golia's Nine Winds label. Peet has composed extensively for film and television, and also does production and engineering for Nine Winds, pfMentum, Blue Note, Enja, Atavistic, Little Brother, SST and other labels. In popular music, a cover version, cover song, remake, revival, or simply cover, is a new performance or recording by a musician other than the original performer or composer of the song. Cold War Kids is an American alternative rock band from Long Beach, California. Band members are Nathan Willett (vocals, piano, guitar), Matt Maust (bass guitar), David Quon (guitar, backing vocals), Matthew Schwartz (keyboards, backing vocals, guitar, percussion), and Joe Plummer (drums, percussion). Air was an American jazz rock band mainly active in the late 1960s and early 1970s. History The band's self-titled debut album was released in 1971 by Embryo Records, which had been founded by Herbie Mann in 1969. The four core band members were Tom Coppola (Hammond organ, Allen Organ Company, Allen organ, piano), John Siegler (bass), Mark Rosengarden (drums), and Googie Coppola (piano, vocals). The album also featured Randy Brecker on trumpet, Michael Brecker on saxophone, Barry Rogers on trombone, David Earle Johnson on congas and timbales, Robert Kogel on guitar, Bob Rosengarden on vibes, plus Jan Hammer and Herbie Mann on percussion. Marlin
Marlins are fish from the family Istiophoridae, which includes about 10 species. A marlin has an elongated body, a spear-like snout or bill, and a long, rigid dorsal fin which extends forward to form a crest. Its common name is thought to derive from its resemblance to a sailor's marlinspike. Marlins are among the fastest marine swimmers. However, greatly exaggerated speeds are often claimed in popular literature, based on unreliable or outdated reports. Mar Vista is a neighborhood on the Westside of Los Angeles, California. In 1927, Mar Vista became the 70th community to be annexed to Los Angeles. It was designated as an official city neighborhood in 2006. History Mar Vista was called Ocean Park Heights from 1904 to 1924. Rancho Park is a residential neighborhood in the Westside of the city of Los Angeles, California with mostly single family homes and tree lined streets. The community is nestled between West Los Angeles and Cheviot Hills. This enclave draws young professionals and families and is home to residents working in a variety of professional occupations.
