Levallois Sporting Club
The Levallois Sporting Club is a multi-sport athletic club located in Levallois-Perret, France. Founded in 1983, it is now organised into 32 sports and counts 14,500 members. It is one of the most important sports club in France and one that links amateurs and professionals. Among the notable members of the club are Teddy Riner, Marie-Claire Restoux and Jean-Philippe Gatien. History The Levallois Sporting Club was created in 1983. Before that, the club was called Entente Sportive Levalloisienne. At first, 12 sports were represented. By the way of its first president Patrick Balkany, the club grew quickly into a professional club. In 1988, eight Levalloisiens were selected for the Seoul Olympics. At this event, Frédéric Delpla, a fencer, became the first olympic champion of the club. Levallois-Perret () is a commune in the Hauts-de-Seine department and Île-de-France region of north-central France. It lies some from the centre of Paris in the north-western suburbs of the French capital. Teddy Riner
Teddy Pierre-Marie Riner (, ; born 7 April 1989) is a French judoka. He has won ten World Championships gold medals, the first and only judoka (male or female) to do so, and three Olympic gold medals (two individual, one team). He has also won five gold medals at the European Championships. He was a member of the Levallois Sporting Club before joining Paris Saint-Germain in August 2017. Personal life Riner was born on 7 April 1989 in Les Abymes near Pointe-à-Pitre, in Guadeloupe, an insular region of France in the Caribbean. He was raised in Paris. Jean-Philippe Gatien
Jean-Philippe Gatien (, born 16 October 1968 in Alès, France) is a retired French table tennis player. He competed at four Olympics from 1988 to 2000, winning silver in the singles at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and bronze in doubles (with Patrick Chila) at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He won the World Table Tennis Championships in 1993, the Table Tennis World Cup in 1994, and was 13-time "champion de France". A left-handed player, his offensive style featured a superb forehand smash. He also won three English Open titles. Following numerous injuries, Gatien retired on May 15, 2004. Having made his debut with French club AS Salindres, he made his final public appearance there in an exhibition match with Patrick Chila, June 2006. Patrick Balkany
Patrick Balkany (born 16 August 1948 in Neuilly-sur-Seine) is a French politician. He is a former member of the National Assembly of France. He was representing the 5th constituency of the Hauts-de-Seine department, and is a member of The Republicans. He served as mayor of Levallois-Perret, a wealthy suburb of Paris, since 1983, with his wife Isabelle as his deputy. He is also a long-time friend of former French president Nicolas Sarkozy. He is of Hungarian, Latvian and Ukrainian Jewish origin.. In 2019, he was sentenced for tax evasion to four years in prison and to ten years of ineligibility, then dismissed from his mayor's mandate. Maureen Nisima (born 30 July 1981 in Bondy, Seine-Saint-Denis) is a French épée fencer, who won the bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics alongside Laura Flessel-Colovic, Hajnalka Kiraly Picot and Sarah Daninthe. She also won the silver medal in the épée team event at the 2006 World Fencing Championships after losing to China in the final. The Levallois Sporting Club Escrime is a fencing club linked to the Levallois Sporting Club. It's one of the biggest fencing club in the world with 800 members. The Levallois Sporting Club Judo is a judo club affiliated to the Levallois Sporting Club. It's one of the biggest judo club in France with 800 members. In 1984, the club was integrated into the Levallois Sporting Club, a brand new omnisport club. In a few years, the club became one of the most important judo club in France and in 1996, Marie-Claire Restoux became the first Olympic champion in club history.
