Lettie is a British London-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Biography Lettie grew up in Suffolk, England. She is a former Medieval History student and avid collector of postcards and ephemera. She has, as a result of her love of films, been recording videos for most of her songs since 2008. They often depict things that are fleeting and past such as the last day of Streatham Ice Arena on 17 December 2011, or an installation by Tomás Saraceno the Hayward Psycho Buildings exhibition (2008) or a day in her life. Lettie met producer/writer David Baron in 2006 and has made three records with him, ''Age of Solo'' and ''Everyman'' (2008) and ''Good Fortune, Bad Weather'' (May 2012). The records were primarily recorded and produced at Baron's home studio in Boiceville, New York. All three records have been independently released. ''Da Kink in My Hair'' was a Canadian television sitcom. Based on the play of the same name by Trey Anthony, the story was adapted into a television show and aired on Global during prime time. It was the first comedy series on a national private mainstream broadcaster that was created by and starring Black women in Canada. The series had centred on a hair salon in the heart of Toronto's Caribbean-Canadian community, Eglinton West. The series debuted on Global on October 14, 2007, and the final episode aired on May 14, 2009. It was the winner of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters Best Fiction Series prize in 2008 and won a Gemini Award for Best Hair. The series has been rebroadcast on Television Jamaica. ''Da Kink in My Hair'' is a play by Trey Anthony, which debuted at the Toronto Fringe Festival in 2001. The play's central character is Novelette, the Caribbean Canadian owner of Letty's, a Toronto hair salon. Novelette is forced to confront her goals and ideals in life when she receives news that her onetime boyfriend Cedric, who loaned her the money to open the salon, has died and his daughter Verena is demanding repayment of the loan. The play subsequently expanded to Theatre Passe-Muraille in 2003, and was nominated for four Dora Awards. Mirvish Productions then underwrote a larger production at the Princess of Wales Theatre in 2005. The show has also been produced at the San Diego Repertory Theatre in San Diego, and at the Hackney Empire in London. In 2022, TO Live and the Bluma Appel Theatre are slated to stage a 20th anniversary production of the play, to be directed by Weyni Mengesha. Cythna Lindenberg Letty (1 January 1895, in Standerton – 3 May 1985, in Pretoria), was a South African botanical artist and is regarded as a doyenne of South African botanical art by virtue of the quality and quantity of her meticulously executed paintings and pencil sketches, produced over a period of 40 years with the National Herbarium in Pretoria. Cythna Letty is best remembered for her book ''Wild Flowers of the Transvaal'' which was published in 1962. When decimal currency was introduced in South Africa, she was asked to design the floral motifs for the 10, 20 and 50 cent coins. Besides painting she was an accomplished poet and published ''Children of the Hours'' when she was in her eighties. Leticia Jannet López Ramos, known professionally as Lety López (and formerly Leticia López), is a Mexican actress and singer. She was awarded with the Bravo, APT and ACPT awards for Best New Female Actress in a Musical in 2012 for her work in ''Si Nos Dejan – El Gran Musical Mexicano''. Lettie Viljoen was a pseudonym of the South African author Ingrid Winterbach, who primarily writes in Afrikaans. She lives in Jamestown, Stellenbosch. Life and education Winterbach was born in Johannesburg in 1948. She got her early education from Florida High School, Johannesburg and studied Afrikaans, Dutch and Fine Arts at the University of the Witwatersrand, and went on to a postgraduate degree in Afrikaans and Dutch at the University of Stellenbosch under D.J. Opperman. She went on to work as a teacher, a journalist, a Fine Arts lecturer at the University of Stellenbosch and a lecturer in Afrikaans and Dutch at the University of Natal. Lettie Hamlett Rogers (1917 – May 14, 1957) was an American novelist and educator. She was born in Suzhou, central China, the daughter of missionary parents. She spent her childhood in China and Japan. After graduating from high school at the Shanghai American School she came to the United States to attend Woman's College of the University of North (now the University of North Carolina at Greensboro). Rogers received a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology in 1940, and accepted a position as an assistant in the Sociology Department the following year. She shared a home with faculty members Lyda Gordon Shivers and Mereb Mossman. Two years later she left her position, but remained in North Carolina where she devoted herself full-time to her writing.
