Lettera A Pinocchio
"Lettera a Pinocchio" is a 1959 Italian song composed by Mario Panzeri. The song premiered at the first edition of the children song festival Zecchino d'Oro. In spite of not winning the competition, the song got a large commercial success thanks to the version recorded by Johnny Dorelli, at the time very popular thanks to the two Sanremo Music Festival he had just won in couple with Domenico Modugno, with the songs " Volare" and " Piove (Ciao, ciao bambina)". The song was later covered by numerous artists, including Rita Pavone, Gigliola Cinquetti, Duo Fasano, Gino Latilla, Marino Marini, Rosanna Fratello, Mino Reitano, Quartetto Cetra, Jenny Luna, Robertino, Andrea Balestri. Johnny Dorelli
Johnny Dorelli (real name Giorgio Guidi; born 20 February 1937) is an Italian actor, singer and television host. Early life Dorelli was born in Meda, Italy. In 1946 he moved to New York City with his family, where his father, Nino D'Aurelio (born Aurelio Guidi), found work as opera singer. Dorelli studied double bass and piano at the High School of Music and Art in New York. He took the stage name Dorelli in imitation of how the surname D'Aurelio was pronounced in English. His show business career began when he was discovered by bandleader Percy Faith, who brought him on The Ken Murray Show. He later appears on the show By Popular Demand conducted by Robert Alda, accompanied by Paul Whiteman. Rosanna Fratello (born 26 March 1951) is an Italian singer and actress. Biography and career Born in San Severo, Foggia, Fratello emerged as singer in 1969, when she took part at the Sanremo Music Festival with the song "Il treno" and obtained her first commercial success with the song "Non sono Maddalena". In 1971, she made her debut as actress with the film '' Sacco e Vanzetti''; for her performance she was awarded with a Nastro d'Argento as best new actress. Her other roles were in the crime films '' The Black Hand'' (1973) and '' Cross Shot'' (1976). ''Holiday in Europe'' was a long-playing vinyl album recorded for Bing Crosby's own company, Project Records at Radio Recorders in Hollywood and issued by Decca Records (DL-4281) in 1962. The album consists of twelve European songs. The orchestral arrangements were by Bob Thompson and the orchestra was conducted by Malcolm Lockyer at Decca's West Hampstead, London studios in October 1960. Crosby had recorded four of the songs with Lockyer on October 15, 1960, in London but a decision was taken not to use these vocal tracks. Crosby subsequently over-dubbed his vocals on all of the orchestral tracks in May 1961. Malcolm Lockyer does not receive a credit on the album cover. The album was issued on CD by MCA Victor, Inc., Japan (MVCM-294) in 1993. The album was also reissued as "Holiday In Europe (And Beyond!)" released in February 2019 by Sepia Records. Quartetto Cetra (; ) was an Italian jazz vocal quartet established during the early 1940s and active until 1988. Career The band was based on the Mills Brothers and started performing under the name Quartetto Egie from the initials of the singers' first names: Enrico Gentile, Giovanni Giacobetti, Iacopo Jacomelli, and Enrico De Angelis.
