Letná Park
Letná Park (in Czech ''Letenské sady'') is a large park on Letná hill, built on a plateau above steep embankments along the Vltava River in Prague, Czech Republic. Letná's elevation and location afford commanding views of the Prague Old Town (''Staré Město''). "Leten", originally called "summer camp" or "place to sunbathe" gained its importance in the Middle Ages, when the first military camps were located there due to their strategic location. The areas were mainly vineyards and gardens. It was not until the end of the 19th century that it began to be systematically colonized. Over time, the plains of this area of the city became a place of meeting, entertainment and recreation. In 1955, a large monument to Joseph Stalin was erected at the edge of Letná Park. This statue was destroyed in 1962 and the Prague Metronome now occupies the site. Stalin's Monument (Prague)
Stalin's Monument () was a granite statue honoring Joseph Stalin in Prague, Czechoslovakia. It was unveiled on 1 May 1955 after more than years of work, and was the world's largest representation of Stalin. The sculpture was demolished in late 1962. History The monument was located on a huge concrete pedestal, which can still be visited in Letná Park. It was the largest group statue in Europe, measuring high and long. The sculptor was Otakar Švec, who killed himself a few days before the unveiling./nowiki>his wife/nowiki> Štursa, did not tower for long over the medieval centre of Prague: in connection with Soviet criticism of Stalin's "cult of personality," the work was dynamited and removed towards the end of 1962. The City of Prague has been considering several options for redevelopment of the site for years, including a plan to build an aquarium. The ''HIS''tory World Tour was the third and final worldwide solo concert tour by American singer and recording artist Michael Jackson, covering Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania and North America. Molochov
In Prague, Molochov is the popular name of the functionalist building completed in 1938 whose long façade faces Letná Park's north side. Il holds its name from Moloch due to the "colossal" dimensions of its façade, 252 m long and 16,5 m high. It is located on Milada Horáková street. The complex is composed of fourteen building units joined by a single façade. It was built between 1936 and 1938, by the architects Josef Havlíček (designer of the façade unifying the different building units), Ernst Mühlstein, Victor Furth, František Votava, Leo Lauermann and the brothers OttoBiological father of Miloš Forman. and Karel Kohn (designers of seven out of the fourteen units). The Kohn brothers fled Nazi occupied Czechoslovakia in 1938 and could not finish their part of the work which was therefore taken over by Havlíček. Carousel
A carousel or carrousel (mainly North American English), merry-go-round (List of sovereign states, international), roundabout (British English), or hurdy-gurdy (an old term in Australian English, in South Australia, SA) is a type of amusement ride consisting of a rotation, rotating circular platform with seats for riders. General Land Centennial Exhibition (1891)
The General Land Centennial Exhibition was a World's fair held in 1891 in Prague, then in the Austria-Hungarian Empire. Many buildings were erected for this exposition, including the '' Průmyslový palace (Industrial Palace)'' and the ''Křižík's light fountain'' at Výstaviště Praha. Summary Taking place towards the end of the Austria-Hungarian empire this exhibition was a demonstration of what was to soon become Czechoslovakia's desire for independence. Its date marked 100 years since the first industrial exhibition held in 1791 in Prague's Clementinum when Prague was part of the Habsburg monarchy. The German population in Prague attempted to move the 1891 expo to the following year when it could not be used to mark the century. And then when it was held largely boycotted it. Radio Prague International ( cs, Český rozhlas 7 – Radio Praha) is the official international broadcasting station of the Czech Republic. Broadcasting first began on August 31, 1936 near the spa town of Poděbrady. Radio Prague broadcasts in six languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Czech and Russian. It broadcasts programmes about the Czech Republic on satellite and on the Internet. Skateboarding is an extreme sport, action sport originating in the United States that involves riding and performing tricks using a skateboard, as well as a recreational activity, an art form, an entertainment industry Profession, job, and a method of transportation. ''Deník'' is a regional daily newspaper in the Czech Republic. History and profile ''Denik'' is published by Vltava Labe Media (VLM), which since November 2015 is owned by Penta Investments.
