Orlando Letelier
Marcos Orlando Letelier del Solar (13 April 1932 – 21 September 1976) was a Chilean economist, politician and diplomat during the presidency of Salvador Allende. A refugee from the military dictatorship of General Augusto Pinochet, Letelier accepted several academic positions in Washington, D.C. following his exile from Chile. In 1976, agents of Dirección de Inteligencia Nacional (DINA), the Pinochet regime's secret police, assassinated Letelier in Washington via the use of a car bomb. These agents had been working in collaboration with members of the Coordination of United Revolutionary Organizations, an anti-Castro militant group. Carmen Luisa Letelier Valdés is a Chilean contralto and voice teacher, the winner of the National Prize for Musical Arts in 2010. Biography Carmen Luisa Letelier is the daughter of composer and artist Margarita Valdés Subercaseaux. She and her brother were influenced by their parents to take an interest in music. She studied pedagogy in Spanish at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, where she graduated as a teacher in 1967. In 1979 she obtained her title of superior interpreter in singing at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Chile. There she was a student of Lila Cerda, , , , and Hernán Wurth. She began her career as a teacher in 1969, at the Pontifical Catholic University's Institute of Music. René Letelier Martner (1915–2006) was a Chilean chess player with the title of International Master. His finest international tournament win was in 1954, when he took the UNESCO tournament in Montevideo as clear first ahead of joint Ossip Bernstein and Miguel Najdorf, beating both in their individual game. José Letelier
José Antonio Letelier Henríquez (born 23 May 1966) is a Chilean football coach and former professional goalkeeper. He has been head coach of the Chile women's national football team since 2015. Playing career Letelier started playing in the youth categories of Universidad de Chile, before switching to rivals Colo-Colo where he was taken on as a professional in 1987. In 1988 Colo-Colo sent Letelier and three other young players – Francisco Huerta, Parcko Quiroz and René Pinto – on loan to Alianza Lima, whose team had perished in the 1987 Alianza Lima plane crash. After a further loan at Deportes Valdivia, he returned to Colo-Colo and understudied Daniel Morón and Marcelo Ramírez in the club's 1991 Copa Libertadores-winning squad. Fabiola Letelier
Fabiola Alicia Letelier del Solar (17 July 1929 – 18 November 2021) was a Chilean lawyer, noted for her activism and defense of human rights in Chile and Latin America. She was the founder and president of CODEPU (1980–1998), and a plaintiff lawyer in the case surrounding her brother Orlando Letelier's assassination in 1976. On 23 July 2018, she was awarded the National Human Rights Prize, awarded by the National Institute of Human Rights. Early life and education Letelier was born July 17, 1929, in Temuco, Chile, the eldest of three children. Her father was a printer, and her mother was a poet and homemaker. She was raised largely in Santiago. She was encouraged to pursue opportunities normally closed to women, and graduated from law school at the University of Chile in 1963. Patricio Anibal Letelier Sotomayor (September 11, 1943 – June 9, 2011) was a Chilean mathematical physicist and professor at University of Campinas (UNICAMP). Work Letelier was born in Santiago. Early in his career (1993) Letelier worked with Dmitrii Vladimirovich Gal'tsov to define what has become known as the ''Letelier-Gal'tsov spacetime''. He received his Ph.D. in Physics from the Boston University in 1977 under John Stachel. He joined the faculty of the University of Brasília until 1988 when became a Professor of Mathematical Physics in the Department of Applied Mathematics of UNICAMP. His last published work is a study of the three-body problem with Tiago Amancio da Silva. Hernán Rivera Letelier (born 11 July 1950 in Talca, Chile) is a Chilean novelist. Until the age of 11 he lived in the Algorta saltpeter mining town, in the north of Chile. When it was closed down, he and his family moved to Antofagasta, where his mother died. His siblings went to live with his aunts. He stayed in Antofagasta, alone, until he was about 11. To survive, he sold newspapers. Later he worked as a messenger for Anglo Lautaro Nirate Company, until his thirst for adventure led him to spend three years traveling in Chile, Bolivia, Perú, Ecuador and Argentina. He returned to Antofagasta in 1973 and began to work at another company, Mantos Blancos. He married a 17-year-old girl when he was 24. Later he left for Pedro de Valdivia, another saltpeter mining town.
