Let's Rock Again!
''Let's Rock Again!'' is a music documentary film following Joe Strummer as he tours across the United States and Japan with his band Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros, the Mescaleros promoting their second album ''Global a Go-Go''. The memoir was shot by filmmaker and longtime Strummer friend Dick Rude in the 18 months leading up to Strummer's death in 2002. In light of Strummer's death, the film is "inevitably sad to watch now," as ''The Guardian'' wrote in a review, but still inspirational in its portrayal of "a star of rare humility". DVD The DVD was released in June 2006. Dick Rude
Dick Rude (born 1964) is a director, actor and writer known for his appearances in and contributions to many Alex Cox films including a starring role in 1986's '' Straight to Hell'', for which he also served as a writer and contributed to the soundtrack. Rude directed the Red Hot Chili Peppers music videos "Catholic School Girls Rule", "Fight Like a Brave", and "Universally Speaking" as well as their live concert DVD '' Off the Map''. His most recent film is '' Let's Rock Again!'', a 2004 documentary that documented the final tour of musician Joe Strummer shortly before his death in 2002. Global A Go-Go
''Global a Go-Go'' is the second album by Joe Strummer and The Mescaleros, displaying trademark genre-melding folk-rock and Strummer's unique lyrical style. As the title suggests, there are world music influences on the album, mostly on the title track and "Bhindi Bhagee", a celebration of the "humble" but diverse and exciting ethnic and multi-cultural areas of London and other major cities. The album is heavy on acoustic instruments, especially in the instrumental " Minstrel Boy", a nearly 18-minute-long arrangement of a traditional Irish song. Other topics covered include Strummer's radio show, which was broadcast on the BBC World Service (''Global a Go-Go'') and left-wing political issues Strummer was well known for expounding as a member of The Clash. The Clash
The Clash were an English rock band formed in London in 1976 who were key players in the original wave of British punk rock. Billed as "The Only Band That Matters", they also contributed to the and new wave movements that emerged in the wake of punk and employed elements of a variety of genres including reggae, dub, funk, ska, and rockabilly. For most of their recording career, the Clash consisted of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Joe Strummer, lead guitarist and vocalist Mick Jones, bassist Paul Simonon, and drummer Nicky "Topper" Headon. "Pressure Drop" is a song recorded in 1969 by the Maytals for record producer Leslie Kong.
