''Lesueurigobius'' is a genus of gobies native to the eastern Atlantic Ocean. The generic name honours the French naturalist Charles Alexandre Lesueur (1778-1846), for whom the type species, ''Lesueurigobius suerii'', was named, Georg Duncker's name ''Lesueuria'' being preoccupied by a genus of comb jellies. Gilbert Percy Whitley
Gilbert Percy Whitley (9 June 1903 – 18 July 1975) was a British-born Australian ichthyologist and malacologist who was Curator of Fishes at the Australian Museum in Sydney for about 40 years. He was born at Swaythling, Southampton, England, and was educated at King Edward VI School, Southampton and the Royal Naval College, Osborne. Whitley migrated with his family to Sydney in 1921 and he joined the staff of the Australian Museum in 1922 while studying zoology at Sydney Technical College and the University of Sydney. In 1925 he was formally appointed Ichthyologist (later Curator of Fishes) at the Museum, a position he held until retirement in 1964. During his term of office he doubled the size of the ichthyological collection to 37,000 specimens through many collecting expeditions. August Wilhelm Malm
August Wilhelm Malm (23 July 1821 – 5 March 1882) was a Swedish zoologist, entomologist and malacologist. He was the first Director of the Gothenburg Natural History Museum. Biography August Wilhelm Malm was born in Lund, Sweden. Malm was generally self-taught without an academic degree. In the years 1838–1839, he was student and assistant of Sven Nilsson (1787–1883), professor of Natural History at Lund University. He worked from 1840 as an assistant of Carl Jakob Sundevall (1801–1875) at the Swedish Museum of Natural History, zoological department in Stockholm. He studied zoology in Copenhagen during 1843–44. Giuseppe Antonio Risso (8 April 1777 – 25 August 1845), called Antoine Risso, was a Niçard and naturalist. John Roxborough Norman
John Roxborough Norman (1898, Wandsworth, London – 26 May 1944, Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire) was an English ichthyologist. He started as a clerk in a bank. His lifetime affliction with rheumatic fever began during his military service during the First World War. He entered the British Museum in 1921 where he worked for Charles Tate Regan (1878-1943). From 1939 to 1944, he was in charge of the Natural History Museum at Tring as the Curator of Zoology. Norman was the author of, among others, ''A History of Fishes'' (1931) and ''A Draft Synopsis of the Orders, Families and Genera of Recent Fishes'' (1957). He was considered closer to Albert Günther (1830-1914) than to Regan. Günther Maul
Günther Edmund Maul (May 7, 1909 – September 28, 1997) was a German ichthyologist and taxidermist in Portugal. Maul came to Madeira in December 1930 to work as taxidermist at Museu Municipal do Funchal, which opened to the public in 1933. He was appointed director for the museum in 1940, a post that he held to his retirement in 1979. He, however, continued his research until shortly before his death. He started two journals (''Boletim do Museu Municipal do Funchal'' in 1945 and ''Bocagiana'' in 1959) and opened the museum's aquarium to the public in 1959. He also participated in several expeditions including with the French bathyscaphe ''Archimède'' in 1966 and organised the first multidisciplinary expedition to the Salvage Islands in 1963.
