Lestock Graham DesBrisay
Lestock Graham DesBrisay (September 3, 1920 – 1988) was a Canadian businessman and a politician in the Province of New Brunswick. He served as the Governor of the Atlantic Provinces Chambers of Commerce from 1958 through 1959. DesBrisay was born in 1920 in Campbellton. Almost always referred to as "L.G. DesBrisay", in the 1960 New Brunswick general election, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly as the Liberal Party candidate in the Moncton City riding. He was immediately appointed by new Premier Louis Robichaud to the Cabinet as Minister of Finance. Lestock G. DesBrisay was reelected in 1963 and on July 8 was given the additional responsibility for the Department of Industry, serving as its Minister until April 1, 1968. He was reelected again in 1967, continuing as Minister of Finance until his government was defeated in the 1970 general election. Campbellton, New Brunswick
Campbellton is a city in Restigouche County, New Brunswick, Canada. Situated on the south bank of the Restigouche River opposite Pointe-à-la-Croix, Quebec, Campbellton was officially incorporated in 1889 and achieved city status in 1958. Forestry and tourism are major industries in the regional economy, while a pulp mill in the Campbellton community of Atholville is the largest single employer in the area. As part of the tourism "industry", wealthy sportfishermen seeking Atlantic salmon flock to the scenic Restigouche Valley every summer. The region sees extensive annual snowfall. The 1970 New Brunswick general election was held on October 26, 1970, to elect 58 members to the 47th New Brunswick Legislative Assembly, the governing house of the province of New Brunswick, Canada. It saw the Liberals defeated, and a new Conservative government take over in the Canadian Province of New Brunswick. Louis Robichaud, the Liberal premier since 1960, called the election early by surprise. Some analysts believed Robichaud was tiring of the job of Premier, and that he had accomplished everything that he had set out to do, such as the Official Languages Act in 1969. With no willing leadership candidates ready to take over at the time, Robichaud called an election. Jean-Maurice Simard (June 21, 1931 – June 16, 2001) was a Canadian Chartered Accountant and politician remembered as a strong promoter of French language rights and defender of Canadian bilingualism. He was born in Rivière-Bleue, Quebec in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region near Maine and New Brunswick. He studied at the University of Ottawa in Ottawa, Ontario and McGill University in Montreal. Donald Lamont, professionally known by his stage name Donald D, is an American rapper and record producer from the Bronx, New York. He is a member of the Universal Zulu Nation, a former member of the B-Boys, and is best known as a member of Ice-T's Rhyme Syndicate.
