Lester Gatewood
Lester Boyd "Buddy" Gatewood (May 30, 1921 – April 9, 1965) was a center in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the Green Bay Packers. Biography Gatewood was born in Dallas, Texas, and played college football at Baylor University and Tulane University. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the eighth round of the 1943 NFL Draft and played two seasons with the team. He died in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 43 from a heart attack. Center (American Football)
Center or Centre (C) is a position in gridiron football. The center is the innermost lineman of the offensive line on a football team's offense. The center is also the player who passes (or "snaps") the ball between his legs to the quarterback at the start of each play. The importance of centers for a football team has increased, due to the re-emergence of 3–4 defenses. According to Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome, "you need to have somebody who can neutralize that nose tackle. If you don't, everything can get screwed up. Tulane University, officially the Tulane University of Louisiana, is a private research university in New Orleans, Louisiana.
