Leslie Harvey (RAF Officer)
Air Marshal Sir Leslie Gordon Harvey, (11 April 1896 – 14 October 1972) was a senior Royal Air Force officer who served as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Maintenance Command from 1952 until his retirement in 1956. RAF career Harvey joined Royal Warwickshire Regiment in June 1917, transferred to the Royal Flying Corps later that year and then secured a short service in the Royal Air Force in 1919. He was promoted to flight lieutenant in 1924. He served in the Second World War as Assistant Director of Repair and Servicing and then as Chief Engineer Officer at Headquarters No. 45 Group RAF, No. 45 Group before becoming Deputy Air Officer Administration (Maintenance) at Headquarters RAF Transport Command, Transport Command. The Most Honourable Order of the Bath is a British order of chivalry founded by George I on 18 May 1725. The name derives from the elaborate medieval ceremony for appointing a knight, which involved bathing (as a symbol of purification) as one of its elements. The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. Richard Jordan (RAF Officer)
Air Marshal Sir Richard Bowen Jordan, (7 February 1902 – 24 April 1994) was a bomber pilot and squadron commander during the Second World War, a senior Royal Air Force officer during the post-war years and the sixth Commandant of the Royal Observer Corps (1949–51). Early Royal Air Force career Educated at Marlborough College Sir Richard was one of the first cadets at the new RAF College Cranwell in 1921, at the age of 19, where he learned to fly. He represented the college at both cricket and rugby having been appointed in the rank of flight cadet sergeant. On graduation he was granted a permanent commission in the rank of pilot officer in 1922 and posted as a pilot to No. 2 Squadron. Air Marshal Sir Thomas Arthur Warne-Browne, (21 July 1898 – 13 October 1962), was a senior Royal Air Force officer who served as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Maintenance Command from 1949 to 1952. RAF Transport Command
RAF Transport Command was a Royal Air Force command that controlled all transport aircraft of the RAF. It was established on 25 March 1943 by the renaming of the RAF Ferry Command, and was subsequently renamed RAF Air Support Command in 1967. History Second World War During the Second World War, it at first ferried aircraft from factories to operational units and performed air transport. Later it took over the job of dropping paratroops from Army Cooperation Command as well.
