Lesley Woods
Lesley Woods (August 22, 1910 – August 2, 2003) was an American radio, stage and television actress. She was a graduate of the Goodman School of Drama in Chicago. Personal life Woods was married to actor Richard McMurray. Sam McMurray is her stepson. Death Woods died on August 2, 2003, 20 days before her 93rd birthday. Stage Woods' acting on Broadway included being in ''Double Dummy'' (1936), ''Excursion'' (1937), ''Comes the Revelation'' (1942), ''The Assassin'' (1945), and ''A Case of Libel'' (1963–64). She was a member of Theatre West. A Billboard review of ''Comes the Revelation'' summarized Woods' acting as follows: "Small, blond and attractive, Miss Woods plays with an honesty and restraint that are as rare as they are commendable. Portia Faces Life, is an American soap opera first broadcast as a radio series from 1940 to 1953, and then on television for a single season in the mid-1950s. It began in syndication on April 1, 1940, and was broadcast on some stations that carried NBC programs, although it does not seem to have been an official part of that network's programming. The original title was ''Portia Blake Faces Life''. Stations airing the series, according to newspaper advertisements included WNAC in Boston, WLS in Chicago, KRLD in Dallas, KGW in Portland, Oregon and KFI in Los Angeles. ''Crime and Peter Chambers'' is an American old-time radio detective program. It was broadcast on NBC from April 6, 1954, until September 7, 1954. Format ''Crime and Peter Chambers'' brought to radio a fictional private detective created by author Henry Kane, who also produced the show and wrote for it. Kane introduced Chambers in the 1947 novel ''A Halo for Nobody''. and featured him in a series of novels, the last of which was ''Kill for the Millions'' (1972). Chambers was based in New York City, and his fee was $500 per day. Unlike many private detectives on radio, Chambers usually coordinated his work with that of the police.
