Les Siestes Electroniques
Based in Toulouse, Southern France, Les Siestes électroniques is a summer festival dedicated to emerging artists from the field of music & digital culture. History Its motley line-up mainly focuses on electronic musicians and aims at a professional audience as well as the general public. The fact that its open-air concerts are free of charge makes Les Siestes électroniques a rare occurrence within the landscapes of European festivals. Les Siestes offers an opportunity to experience contemporary music though concerts, club nights, workshops and sometimes exhibitions. The festival runs for four or five days, usually starting on a Wednesday or a Thursday in the last week of June. Next edition of the festival will be held June 26–29, 2014. Les Siestes Electroniques has been an event by Rotation since 2002. Since 2011 the festival falls into two editions. One takes place in Toulouse and the other in Paris at the Musée du quai Branly. Luke Abbott
Luke Abbott is an English electronic music producer from Norwich, Norfolk. He records and performs extensively under his own name, under the alias Earlham Mystics and as one third of electronic jazz group Szun Waves. His work has been described as "left-field techno and kraut-infused electro" but also draws on more esoteric elements of improvisation, "psychedelic, filtered beats and slow-evolving synths". Keiji Haino ( ''Haino Keiji''; born May 3, 1952) is a Japanese musician and singer-songwriter whose work has included rock, free improvisation, noise music, percussion, psychedelic music, minimalism and drone music. He has been active since the 1970s and continues to record regularly and in new styles. History Haino's initial artistic outlet was theatre, inspired by the radical writings of Antonin Artaud. An epiphanic moment came when he heard The Doors' "When The Music's Over" and changed course towards music. After brief stints in a number of blues and experimental outfits, he formed improvisational rock band Lost Aaraaf in 1970. Lucrecia Dalt is a Colombian experimental musician who currently resides in Berlin. While her earlier releases were rooted in electronic dance music, her work has evolved over time to become more overtly abstract and experimental. Biography Dalt was born in Pereira, Colombia. She studied civil engineering and worked for two years in a geotechnical company in Medellin before deciding to pursue music. Her first recordings were released by Colombian collective Series under the name ''Lucrecia''. After meeting Gudrun Gut, she contributed four songs to the ''4 Women No Cry'' compilation released on Monika Enterprise in 2008. Thomas Moen Hermansen, recording under the name Prins Thomas, is a Norwegian record producer and DJ often associated with collaborator Hans-Peter Lindstrøm as Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas. Their music has been described as "space disco", and influences include electro, krautrock, psychedelia and prog. James Singleton, known professionally as James Pants, is an American multi-instrumental recording artist. Although his music defies simple categorization, he is promoted as a purveyor of the "fresh beat," an early-1980s sound with influences from 1980s soul, electro boogie, early rap, new wave, and post-punk disco. Early life Singleton's father is a Presbyterian minister and he has lived in Texas, Boston, and Spokane. Singleton used to be in a rap group called Ballistix in Austin, Texas. Singleton was discovered by DJ and Stones Throw Records head Peanut Butter Wolf, whom he approached while still in high school.
