Les Roebuck
Leslie Norman "Les" Roebuck (10 November 1885 – 18 May 1973) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He was also a leading tennis player. VFL Roebuck is on record as weighing only 57 kg, during his football career at Geelong, where he played for four seasons. Recruited from Geelong West, Roebuck was Geelong's leading goalkicker in the 1906 VFL season, with 21 goals. His best goal tally in a game was five, which he got against Melbourne at Corio Oval in 1907. Tennis Roebuck played regularly on the tennis circuit and competed at the 1914 Australasian Championships. In the opening round he defeated W. C. ''The Referee'' was a newspaper published in Sydney, Australia from 1886 to 1939. History ''The Referee'' was first published on 20 October 1886 as ''The Sydney Referee'' by Edward Lewis. In 1933 it absorbed '' The Arrow''. It ceased on 31 August 1939. ''The Argus'' was an Australian daily morning newspaper in Melbourne from 2 June 1846 to 19 January 1957, and was considered to be the general Australian newspaper of record for this period. Widely known as a conservative newspaper for most of its history, it adopted a left-leaning approach from 1949. ''The Argus''s main competitor was David Syme's more liberal-minded newspaper, ''The Age''. Rodney Heath
Rodney Wilfred Heath (15 June 1884 – 26 October 1936) was an Australian tennis player. Personal Heath was the second son of F. W. Heath who was the official timekeeper at the Victorian Racing Club and Victorian Amateur Turf Club. Rodney's brother C. V. Heath won the South Australian men's singles title in 1902. In June 1915 Heath left Australia to join the Royal Flying Corps in England. He was promoted to the rank of major two years later. In 1916 Heath was injured when he crash-landed his plane after flying into a snowstorm en route from England to France. Tennis career Heath was the Men's Singles champion at the inaugural Australasian Championships in 1905 defeating Albert Curtis in four sets. He won again it five years later, in 1910, after a victory in the final against Horace Rice in three straight sets.
