Les Ours Du Scorff
Les Ours du Scorff (''The Bears of Scorff'') are a mainly Breton folk group with a generally young audience. The singers Gilbert Bourdin and Laurent Jouin formed the group with the encouragement of the producer of their first album, on which the group was called ''Gigi Bourdin et la Rouchta'', although the album's title, ''Les Ours du Scorff'', has become their better-known name. Singers of traditional music at heart, they have surrounded themselves with instrumentalists well known on the Breton folk scene: Fanch Landreau, Soïg Sibéril, Jacques Yves Réhault, and others. Their music melds Breton, Cajun, and Irish traditions. Their lyrics may bring to mind those of Boby Lapointe, Pierre Perret, or poets such as Norge, all this without sacrificing too much for the simplicity demanded of music for children. Bears are carnivoran mammals of the family Ursidae. They are classified as caniforms, or doglike carnivorans. Although only eight species of bears are extant, they are widespread, appearing in a wide variety of habitats throughout the Northern Hemisphere and partially in the Southern Hemisphere. Scorff
The Scorff (; br, Skorf) River flows from central Brittany and enters the Atlantic Ocean on the south coast in Lorient. The Scorff rises north of Langoëlan, in the Morbihan department, and flows through the towns of Guémené-sur-Scorff and Pont-Scorff. From there its bed enlarges to form a ria, submitted to the tides. Gilbert Bourdin
Aumism is a minor religious sect founded in 1969 by Gilbert Bourdin (1923–1998). Centered on the "holy city" of Mandarom, near Castellane in the French Alps, it has approximately 400 members, down from 1200 at its peak. It is a synthesis of a number of religions, most prominently Hinduism. Its name derives from the mystical "aum" sound used in Hindu meditation, which is said to be the sound that gave birth to all other sounds. There is debate about whether Bourdin's founding of the Ashram (Holy City) of Mandarom in 1969 marked the beginning of the Aumist movement.
