Les Maruo (, ''Maruo Resuri'', born February 14, 1996) is a Japanese professional gridiron football linebacker for the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Early life Maruo attended Goddard High School in Wichita, Kansas. As a senior on the football team, he recorded 79 tackles in nine games. College career Maruo first played college football for the Hutchinson Blue Dragons from 2014 to 2015. He then transferred to the University of Texas at San Antonio, though he used a redshirt season in 2016 after compartment syndrome forced him to undergo surgery on both of his calves. 2022 Winnipeg Blue Bombers Season
The 2022 Winnipeg Blue Bombers season was the 64th season for the team in the Canadian Football League (CFL) and their 89th season overall. The Blue Bombers entered the season as the two-time defending Grey Cup champions after winning both the 107th and 108th Grey Cup games. The team qualified for the playoffs following their 12th game of the season after defeating the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Labour Day Classic on September 4, 2022. 2021 CFL Global Draft
The 2021 CFL Global Draft took place on April 15, 2021 and was the first CFL Draft that pooled all of the global players together after previously having separate drafts for Mexican players and European players in 2019. 36 players were chosen from among eligible players following a virtual CFL Combine. The order of the draft was determined by random lottery, similar to the system used for the 2021 CFL Draft. As a snake draft, each odd round was in the opposite order of each even round. The CFL Combine (formerly known as the Evaluation Camp or E-Camp) is a three-day program in which athletes from Canadian universities and Canadians in the NCAA are scouted by general managers, coaches and scouts of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The goal of the camp is for the nine CFL franchises to have a better idea of whom they would like to draft in the CFL draft which usually takes place roughly six weeks after the camp.
