LeRoy Victor Smith (August 4, 1933October 25, 2002) was an American former football coach. He coached in four decades, his lifetime record was 106–77–7. Coaching career Mississippi Valley State Smith's first head coaching position was at Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, Mississippi, where he coached the 1958 season. He was the third head coach for the Delta Devils and produced a record of 2–5–1. Tuskegee Smith waited six years to become a head coach again. He was named the tenth head football coach at Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama, and he held that position for six seasons, from 1964 until 1969. His coaching record at Tuskegee was 42–13–3. Leroy Smith (born January 6, 1969) is a former college football player for the Iowa Hawkeyes from 1988 to 1991. He was a defensive lineman that was named a consensus first team All-American and the Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Year in 1991. Harvest Leroy Smith Jr. (February 27, 1963) is a retired American professional basketball player, businessperson and former high school teammate of National Basketball Association (NBA) star Michael Jordan. Early years Smith was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, before moving to Wilmington, North Carolina in 1972 with his family. Hezekiah Leroy Gordon Smith (August 14, 1909 – September 25, 1967), better known as Stuff Smith, was an American jazz violinist. He is well known for the song " If You're a Viper" (the original title was "You'se a Viper"). Smith was, along with Stéphane Grappelli, Michel Warlop, Svend Asmussen, Ray Nance and Joe Venuti, one of jazz music's preeminent violinists of the swing era. Biography He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, United States in 1909, and studied violin with his father. Smith cited Louis Armstrong as his primary influence and inspiration to play jazz, and like Armstrong, was a vocalist as well as instrumentalist. In the 1920s, he played in Texas as a member of Alphonse Trent's band. After moving to New York City he performed regularly with his sextet at the Onyx Club starting in 1935, and also with Coleman Hawkins, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and later, Sun Ra. Sweet Sensation was an eight piece British soul group who had some success in the mid-1970s. They are best known for their 1974 No. 1 UK hit, " Sad Sweet Dreamer". Career Formed in Manchester in 1971, the band came to prominence after appearing on the ITV talent show ''New Faces''. Under the guidance of panellist Tony Hatch, the band signed to Pye Records. The debut single "Snowfire" failed to reach the charts, but the follow-up " Sad Sweet Dreamer" was a UK number one single in October 1974 that also reached No. 14 on the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot 100 the following spring. The follow-up "Purely by Coincidence" reached No. 11 in the UK in January 1975. Both songs were written by David Parton.
