Leow is a surname. The surname originated from mainland China but descendants can be found across East Asia, most notably; Singapore & Malaysia. Origin of surname: The First Emperor (皇帝) granted Miao (缪)and Yan (颜) as surnames. During King Yin Zhou’s (殷纣王) reign, ruthlessness and cruelty, forced people with the two surnames to live in seclusion and subsequently, they changed their surname to Liao (廖). In the light of the above: There are more concrete evidence that leans towards the Liao (廖) surname originating from the descendants of Liao Shu An (廖叔安). Historical records noted that Liao Shu An (廖叔安) controlled floods with great achievement during Xia Dynasty (夏朝). He received Country honours, was conferred and founded Liao State (蓼国). Julian Leow Beng Kim
Julian Leow Beng Kim (born 3 January 1964) is a Malaysian prelate of the Roman Catholic Church who has been serving as archbishop of the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur since 2014. Early life Archbishop Leow was born on 3 January 1964, in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan to an ethnic Malaysian Chinese family of Cantonese descent. He obtained a Bachelor of Building from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia in the year 1989. He then studied at College General, Penang from 1994 to 2001. He was ordained priest for the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur on 20 April 2002, by Most Rev Anthony Soter Fernandez (now Cardinal). Archbishop Leow has also obtained a Licentiate in Church History from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, Italy. He also served as the Dean of Studies and formator at College General, Penang from the year 2009 until his appointment as the Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur. Willy Leow
Willy Leow (25 January 1887 – 3 October 1937) was a German communist politician and activist. Life and work Willy Leow attended elementary school in Brandenburg an der Havel. Then he learned the carpentry trade and was taught at the Workers' Educational School in Berlin. In January 1904 Leow became a member of the German Wood Workers Association. In the same year Leow joined the Social Democratic Party (SPD), to which he belonged to 1916. After Leow had participated in 1917 in the foundation of the Spartacus League and briefly belonged to the Independent Social Democratic Party of Germany (USPD), he was in the end of 1918 a founding member of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD). 1925 Leow was elected the Second Chairman of the Roter Frontkämpferbund (RFB), founded in 1924, the defense and protection organization of the KPD.
