Leongatha Football Club
The Leongatha Football Club, nicknamed the ''Parrots'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the town of Leongatha, Victoria. The club teams currently compete in the Gippsland League. Club history ;Leongatha Football Club Founded in 1894, the club has participated in various Gippsland football leagues over the last 100 plus years where the club has won a very credible 26 senior football premierships. In 1903 the club was reformed with George F. Michael as President. In 1910, Leongatha Junior FC (11.12 - 78) won the premiership, defeating Outtrim Junior FC (4.3 - 27). In 1911, Leongatha FC joined the Leongatha and District Football Association, along with the South Leongatha FC. In 1913, Leongatha finish second on the ladder with seven wins and their second semi final against Korumburra had to be played twice, after the first game was drawn. Gippsland Football League
The Gippsland League (formerly known as the West Gippsland Latrobe Football League) is an Australian rules football and netball league in the Gippsland region of Victoria, Australia. It is considered the only AFL Victoria major league in Gippsland. Jarryd Roughead
Jarryd Roughead (born 23 January 1987) is an Australian rules football coach and former player. He is currently an assistant coach with the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He played for the Hawthorn Football Club in the AFL and was the club's captain from 2017 until his retirement in 2019. Damien "Chipper" Adkins (born 9 March 1981) is an Australian rules footballer formerly with the Collingwood and West Coast Eagles Football Clubs in the AFL. He currently plays for the Frankston Football Club in the Victorian Football League. Collingwood Adkins was drafted by Collingwood with pick 50 in the 1998 AFL Draft. Christin Macri (born 28 August 1974) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Western Bulldogs in the Australian Football League (AFL) and Central District in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Originally from Leongatha, Victoria, Macri played with Central District in the SANFL before being added to the Western Bulldog's supplementary list. Stuart Wigney
Stuart Wigney (born 19 April 1969) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Footscray, Sydney, Adelaide and Richmond in the Victorian/Australian Football League (VFL/AFL). Wigney spent his first four seasons at Footscray, having been recruited from Leongatha. He had perhaps his best season in 1990 when he had 284 disposals, 132 marks and kicked 18 goals. It was the same year that he represented Victoria at State of Origin level, against Tasmania. A key position player, he was traded to Sydney at the end of the 1991 AFL season but made just one appearance for his new club due to an ankle injury. The Western Bulldogs are a professional Australian rules football team that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's premier competition. Stephen "Wally" Wallis (born 27 October 1964) is a former Australian rules footballer who represented the Footscray Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He currently holds the club record for most consecutive games from debut. Originally from Leongatha, Victoria, Wallis arrived at the Footscray in 1982 and suffered an injury in a reserves game which kept him out for the rest of the season. He made his senior VFL debut in 1983 and became a solid defender and occasional midfielder. In 1989, Wallis was appointed captain of the Bulldogs, and became a representative of Victoria in State of Origin. Midway through 1991 he suffered a broken wrist, forcing him to miss the rest of the season, but returned in 1992 to help the Bulldogs to the finals. Garry Baker (born 24 March 1953) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Melbourne, Footscray and Sydney in the Victorian Football League (VFL). A ruckman, Baker was originally from Meeniyan and started his career at Footscray before moving to Melbourne where he played most of his football. He won Melbourne's best and fairest in 1978 but struggled in the subsequent seasons due to a knee injury.
