Leonardo Marras
Leonardo Marras (born 12 January 1973, in Grosseto) is an Italian politician. Biography He joined the Democratic Party of the Left in 1992 and then the Democrats of the Left, serving as mayor of Roccastrada from 1999 to 2009. He has been a member of the Democratic Party since 2007. Marras ran for the office of President of the Province of Grosseto at the 2009 provincial elections, supported by a centre-left coalition, and won at the second round to the centre-right candidate Alessandro Antichi on 22 June. He took office on 23 June 2009. He was elected member of the Regional Council of Tuscany in 2015. Marras ran for the Chamber of Deputies at the 2018 general election, but was not elected. Regional Council Of Tuscany
The Regional Council of Tuscany (''Consiglio Regionale della Toscana'') is the legislative assembly of Tuscany. It was first elected in 1970, when the ordinary regions were instituted, on the basis of the Constitution of Italy of 1948. Composition The Regional Council of Tuscany was originally composed of 50 regional councillors. In the 2005 regional election the number of councillors increased to 65, while in the 2010 regional election it was reduced to 53. Following the 2014 regional electoral reform the number of regional councillors was reduced to 40, with an additional seat reserved for the President of the Region. ''Il Tirreno'' (English: "The Tyrrhenian") is a regional Italian newspaper, printed in Livorno and serving the Tuscany region. ''Il Tirreno'' also features sixteen local editions around the whole region. History It was founded in 1877 under the name ''Il Telegrafo'', with a moderate centrist political line. During the fascist regime, it was owned by the Ciano family. Following the Liberation, it was replaced in 1945 by ''Il Tirreno'', and switched to a left-wing policy. From 1957 to 1976 it was known again as ''Il Telegrafo'', but then resumed using its current name. The paper is owned by the media company Gruppo Editoriale L'Espresso and has its headquarters in Livorno. ''La Nazione'' is one of the oldest regional newspapers in Italy, and was established on 8 July 1859. The paper is based in Florence. History and profile ''La Nazione'' was founded by Bettino Ricasoli, interim head of the Tuscan government. The first issue appeared on 8 July 1859. Its title reflects the hope of Ricasoli for a unified Italy. ''La Nazione'' merged with Cavour's famous political newspaper '' Il Risorgimento''. 2018 Italian General Election
The 2018 Italian general election was held on 4 March 2018 after the Italian Parliament was dissolved by President Sergio Mattarella on 28 December 2017. Voters were electing the 630 members of the Chamber of Deputies and the 315 elective members of the Senate of the Republic for the 18th legislature of the Italian Republic since 1948. The election took place concurrently with the Lombard and Lazio regional elections. No party or coalition gained an absolute majority in the parliament, even though the centre-right coalition won a plurality of seats as a coalition, and the Five Star Movement (M5S) won a plurality of seats as an individual party. The Chamber of Deputies ( it, Camera dei deputati) is the lower house of the bicameral Italian Parliament (the other being the Senate of the Republic). The two houses together form a perfect bicameral system, meaning they perform identical functions, but do so separately. Alessandro Antichi
Alessandro Antichi (born 14 May 1958 in Grosseto) is an Italian politician and lawyer. Biography Graduated at the University of Siena in 1982, he opened his own law firm in the city of Grosseto in 1985. He joined the centre-right party Forza Italia in 1995 and was elected Mayor of Grosseto on 28 April 1997. Antichi was the first centre-right politician to be elected mayor of the city. He was re-elected for a second term on 14 May 2001. Antichi resigned three years later in order to run for the office of President of Tuscany at the 2005 Tuscan regional election, but he was ultimately defeated by the centre-left candidate Claudio Martini.
