Leonard Clarke Webster
Leonard Clarke Webster (1870 – 26 September 1942) was a botanical collector in Australia. Born in Launceston, Tasmania, his first occupation was as a pharmacist. By 1900 he was living in the vicinity of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. Between 1903 and 1938, he sold plant and reptile specimens to the British Museum and the Australian Museum. He collected the types of '' Eucalyptus websteriana'' (Webster's mallee), later named in his honour, and ''Acacia coolgardiensis'' (spinifex wattle). In 1906 he qualified as a doctor, thereafter practicing medicine in Tasmania and New South Wales. Acacia Coolgardiensis
''Acacia coolgardiensis'', commonly known as sugar brother or spinifex wattle, is a shrub in the family Fabaceae. Endemic to Western Australia, it is widely distributed in the semi-arid spinifex country from Carnarvon to Kalgoorlie. Sugar brother grows to a height of about three metres. It nearly always has multiple stems. Like most ''Acacia'' species, it has phyllodes rather than true leaves. These are green, and may be up to 10 centimetres long and about three millimetres wide. The flowers are yellow, and held in cylindrical clusters up to two centimetres long and five millimetres wide. The pods are papery, about three millimetres wide. ''Eucalyptus websteriana'', commonly known as Webster's mallee, heart-leaf mallee or dainty mallee, is a species of mallee that is endemic to the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia. It has reddish minnirichi bark on the trunk and branches, egg-shaped to heart-shaped adult leaves, flower buds in groups of seven, pale cream-coloured to yellow flowers and usually hemispherical fruit. Description ''Eucalyptus websteriana'' is a mallee that typically grows to a height of with a spreading habit, and forms a lignotuber. It has reddish brown minnirichi bark on the trunk and branches. The adult leaves have a distinctive heart shape and the tree has a compact crown, providing lightly dappled shade that benefits plants in the undergrowth.
