Leonard Carpenter
Leonard Paul Carpenter (born February 6, 1948) is an American writer of fantasy and science fiction. He writes as Leonard Carpenter and Leonard P. Carpenter. Life Carpenter was born in 1948 in Chicago, but aside from a year in West Texas in childhood has lived most of his life in California.Author profile on Amazon.com He married Cheryl Lynn Chrisman on October 10, 1970, in Alameda, California. They attended University of California, Berkeley, UC Berkeley, from which they both graduated, and had two daughters and a son. The Carpenters lived in Santa Maria, California from 1975 to 2003, and continued to reside on the Central Coast (California), California Central Coast thereafter. The Year’s Best Horror Stories was a series of annual anthologies published by DAW Books in the U.S. from 1972 to 1994 under the successive editorships of Richard Davis from 1972 to 1975 (after a 1971-1973 series published by Sphere Books in the U.K.; the first volumes had the same contents, the U.S. second volume in 1974 drew stories from the second and third U.K. volumes, and the 1975 U.S. third volume was very different from the U.K's.; the U.S. third volume was published as a one-shot volume in the U.K. by Orbit Books in 1976), and of Gerald W. Page from 1976 to 1979, and Karl Edward Wagner from 1980 to 1994. The series was discontinued after Wagner's death. He directs Khumanos to sacrifice Qjara, a more prosperous city to the north. To do this correctly, Khumanos seeks out Solon in the desert, to which he expresses doubts about the mission.
