''The Ladies Man'' is a 2000 American sex comedy film directed by Reginald Hudlin. The film stars Tim Meadows, who also wrote the film along with Dennis McNicholas and Andrew Steele. The film focuses on the exploits of radio host and sex therapy expert Leon Phelps, a character Meadows developed on ''SNL''. Plot Leon Phelps (also known as the "''Ladies Man''") was a ''Saturday Night Live'' character played by Tim Meadows during the 1990s. The sketch was that of a broadcast program in which Phelps, a young, suave black man, would give dubious romantic advice and lovemaking tips. The Ladies Man openly proclaimed that he would court any woman at all including wikt:skank, skanks, providing the woman weighs no more than 250 pounds. A night of romance would generally center around a bottle of Courvoisier. After finally going too far during a broadcast, Leon is fired, but he receives a note from one of his former flames who wants him to come back to her—and is willing to support him ...

Reginald Hudlin
Reginald Alan Hudlin (born December 15, 1961) is an American film screenwriter, director, producer, and comic-book writer. Along with his older brother Warrington Hudlin, he is known as one of the Hudlin Brothers. From 2005 to 2008, Hudlin was President of Entertainment for Black Entertainment Television (BET). Hudlin has also written numerous graphic novels. He co-produced the 88th Academy Awards ceremony in 2016 as well as other TV specials. Hudlin's breakout film was 1990's ''House Party''. He also directed the 1992 film ''Boomerang''. Alongside Warrington, he executive produced the 1994 anthology television film ''Cosmic Slop'', and directed the first of the film's three segments, "Space Traders". Hudlin worked as a producer on the 2012 film ''Django Unchained'', directed by Quentin Tarantino, which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture.
