Leon Johnson (end)
Leon Bernard Johnson (1902 – unknown) was an American football player. Johnson was born in 1902. He attended Woodbury High School in Woodbury, New Jersey. He played for Woodbury's football team from 1919 to 1922 and was team captain in 1921 and 1922. He was named to the New Jersey all-state team as a senior. He also played baseball and basketball at Woodbury and was captain of the basketball team. After graduating from Woodbury, he attended Allentown Prep, where he lettered in all three sports and graduated in 1924. In 1925, he enrolled at Lafayette College and played for the freshman football team. He was forced to cut short his collegiate career due to "family circumstances". He played professional football for the Philadelphia Quakers team that won the American Football League championship in 1926. He also played for an Atlantic City team. The Lafayette Leopards football program represents Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania in college football. One of the oldest college football programs in the United States, Lafayette currently plays in the Patriot League at the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision level. The Orange Tornadoes and Newark Tornadoes were two manifestations of a long-lived professional American football franchise that existed in some form from 1887 to 1941 and from 1958 to 1970, having played in the American Amateur Football Union from 1888 to 1895, the National Football League from 1929 to 1930, the American Association (football), American Association from 1936 to 1941, the Atlantic Coast Football League from 1963 to 1964 and 1970, and the Continental Football League from 1965 to 1969. Lafayette College
Lafayette College is a private liberal arts college in Easton, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1826 by James Madison Porter and other citizens in Easton, the college first held classes in 1832.
