Schmidt; 1887 – 1961 or 1962) was a Romanian and American poet, literary historian and translator. Cultivating proletarian literature while frequenting the Symbolist movement, he displayed both his origins in the Romanian Jewish underclass and his appreciation for the wider Romanian culture. He popularized the latter with his work in America, having left in 1913 to escape antisemitic pressures. A translator, publicist, and public lecturer, he was involved with the Romanian press of New York City, and eventually as a Romance studies academic at Columbia and Long Island. The University of Montpellier (french: Université de Montpellier) is a public university, public research university located in Montpellier, in south-east of France. Eugeniu Botez
Eugeniu Botez (; 28 November 1874 – 12 May 1933) was a Romanian writer, best known for his novel ''Europolis'' (1933). Botez wrote under the pseudonym Jean Bart. He was born , at the time a village in Botoșani County, now a neighborhood of the city of Suceava. His father, Panait Botez, was a general in the Romanian Army; his mother was Smaranda (''née'' Nastasachi) and his brother was Octav Botez. At age 4 he moved with his family to Iași; in elementary school he had as teacher Ion Creangă. After attending the military high school in Iași from 1889 to 1894, he went to Bucharest, where he graduated from the Officers School in 1896 with the rank of second lieutenant. Botez had three children: Călin-Adam (born in 1909), Stroe-Eugen (1912) and Ada (1918). Dimitrie Anghel
Dimitrie Anghel (; July 16, 1872 – November 13, 1914) was a Romanian poet. Anghel was of Aromanian descent from his father. His first poem was published in ''Contemporanul'' (1890). His debut editorial ''Traduceri din Paul Verlaine'' was published in 1903 and in 1905 he published a volume of his works in ''În grădină'', and in 1909, in ''Fantazii''. Notable poems, many of which were in collaboration with Ștefan Octavian Iosif, include ''Legenda funigeilor'' (dramatic poem, 1907), ''Cometa'' (comedy, 1908), ''Caleidoscopul lui A. Mirea'' (1908), ''Carmen saeculare'' (historical poem, 1909), published in 1910, ''Cireșul lui Lucullus'' (proză). Mihail Cruceanu
Mihail Cruceanu (December 13, 1887 – July 7, 1988) was a Romanian poet. He was born in Iași to Mihail Cruceanu, a doctor, and his wife Ecaterina (''née'' Petrovanu). He attended high school in Ploiești and Pitești, earning his degree in 1906 at Bucharest's Saint Sava High School. Cruceanu enrolled in the University of Bucharest, where he took degrees in law (1911) and literature and philosophy (1913). He subsequently taught high school at Alexandria, Craiova and Bucharest. He made his poetic debut in ''Revista literară'' in 1904. Although he associated with the '' Literatorul'' circle of Alexandru Macedonski, he was closer to Ovid Densusianu's '' Vieața Nouă'' group. The Romanian Academy ( ro, Academia Română ) is a cultural forum founded in Bucharest, Romania, in 1866. It covers the scientific, artistic and literary domains. The academy has 181 active members who are elected for life.
