Leon Creek
Leon Creek is a tributary stream of the Medina River, in Bexar County, Texas, Bexar County, Texas. Leon Creek has its source seven miles northeast of Leon Springs, Texas, Leon Springs in northwestern Bexar County. The creek runs southeast through Leon Valley, Texas, Leon Valley and the west side of the city of San Antonio to its mouth on the Medina River, just west of Cassin, Texas, Cassin and twelve miles south of downtown San Antonio. Leon Creek was a watering place for travelers on the San Antonio-El Paso Road including the stagecoach lines like the San Antonio-El Paso Mail and San Antonio-San Diego Mail Line.Wayne R. Leon Valley, Texas
Leon Valley is a city in Bexar County, Texas, United States. It is an enclave on the northwest side of San Antonio and is part of the San Antonio-New Braunfels Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 11,542 at the 2020 census. Leon Valley is an independent municipality surrounded by the city of San Antonio. History Leon Valley was developed in the 1940s as a farming community on Bandera Road between Helotes and San Antonio. Cassin, Texas
Cassin is an unincorporated community in Bexar County, in the U.S. state of Texas. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had a population of 50 in 1990. It is located within the Greater San Antonio metropolitan area. History The area in what is known as Cassin today was first settled sometime before 1900. It was named for William Cassin, a local landowner. The community served as a flag stop station for the San Antonio, Uvalde and Gulf Railroad in 1913. There was a store and a church in Cassin in the mid-1930s. Its population was 175 in 1946 and dropped to only 50 in 1990. Geography Cassin is located off U.S. Highway 281 just south of Mitchell Lake, south of Downtown San Antonio in southern Bexar County. Medina River
The Medina River is located in south central Texas, United States, in the Medina Valley. It was also known as the Rio Mariano, Rio San Jose, or Rio de Bagres (Catfish river). Its source is in springs in the Edwards Plateau in northwest Bandera County, Texas and merges with the San Antonio River in southern Bexar County, Texas, for a course of 120 miles. It contains the Medina Dam in NE Medina County, Texas which restrains Lake Medina. A river mouth is where a river flows into a larger body of water, such as another river, a lake/reservoir, a bay/gulf, a sea, or an ocean. At the river mouth, sediments are often deposited due to the slowing of the current reducing the carrying capacity of the water. The water from a river can enter the receiving body in a variety of different ways. The motion of a river is influenced by the relative density of the river compared to the receiving water, the rotation of the earth, and any ambient motion in the receiving water, such as tides or seiches.
