Leo Peter Kierkels
Leo Peter Kierkels (1882–1957) was a Catholic archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See. Biography Kierkels was born in Baexem, Netherlands on 12 December 1882. He was ordained a priest of the Congregation of the Passion on 22 December 1906. He was appointed Apostolic Delegate to India and Titular Archbishop of Salamis on 23 March 1931. Willem Marinus Van Rossum
Willem Marinus van Rossum, C.Ss.R. (3 September 1854 – 30 August 1932) was a Dutch prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He was made a cardinal in 1911, led the Apostolic Penitentiary from 1915 to 1918, and served as Prefect of the Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith from 1918 until his death. Life Willem van Rossum was born in Zwolle, Netherlands, to Jan and Hendrika (née Veldwillems) van Rossum. He entered the Minor Seminary of Culemborg in 1867 and joined the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, more commonly known as the Redemptorists, on 15 June 1873. Martin Lucas (16 October 1894 – 3 March 1969) was a Catholic Church, Catholic archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See. Biography Lucas was born in Haarlem, Netherlands, on 16 October 1894. Edward Aloysius Mooney (May 9, 1882 – October 25, 1958) was an American cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Archbishop of Detroit from 1937 until his death, and was made a cardinal in 1946. Early life and ministry Edward Mooney was born in Mount Savage, Maryland, as the seventh child of Thomas and Sarah (née Heneghan) Mooney. A titular bishop in various churches is a bishop who is not in charge of a diocese. By definition, a bishop is an "overseer" of a community of the faithful, so when a priest is ordained a bishop, the tradition of the Catholic, Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox churches is that he be ordained for a specific place. Baexem
Baexem ( li, Boaksum/Boakse) is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is a part of the municipality of Leudal, and lies about 9 kilometres northwest of Roermond. History The village was first mentioned in 1244 as Baxen, and means "settlement of Bako (person)". Baexem was part of the Imperial Abbey of Thorn, a tiny independent country, until 1794. It developed into two centres in the 19th century. One was located along the Antwerp to Roermond railway line and the other Roermond to Weert road. In the 20th century, the settlements merged. The St John the Baptist Church was built between 1949 and 1950 to replace the old church which was destroyed in 1944. A tower was added in 1958. Baexem Castle was first mentioned in 1244.
