Leo Merrett
Leo Frederick Merrett (5 April 1920 – 18 October 1976) was an Australian rules footballer who played in the VFL in between 1940 and 1949 for the Richmond Football Club. Family The son of Frederick Merrett, and Ellen Clarice Merrett, née Buckley, Leo Frederick Merrett was born at Nhill, Victoria, on 5 April 1920. He married Sheila Nora Etheridge on 22 April 1944. His brother-in-law was the Richmond footballer Dave Baxter. He is the great grandfather of Western Bulldogs player Bailey Smith. Football Merrett was a member of Richmond's 1943 VFL Grand Final victory against Essendon. In November 1946, Merrett was appointed as the captain / coach of the Border United Football Club. In January, 1947, it was announced that Richmond Football Club refused Merrett a clearance to coach the Border United Football Club. The Corowa Football Club, nicknamed the Spiders, was an Australian rules football club based in Corowa, New South Wales, that competed in the Ovens & Murray Football League. The club merged with the Wahgunyah Football Club on several occasions during its early history and as a result was also known as the Border United Football Club from time to time between 1877 and 1947. Then in 1979, both Corowa Football Club and Rutherglen Football Club merged to form Corowa Rutherglen Football Club and have played in the Ovens and Murray Football League ever since. Prahran (), also pronounced colloquially as Pran, is an inner suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 5 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Stonnington local government area. Prahran recorded a population of 12,203 at the 2021 census. Prahran is a part of Greater Melbourne, with many shops, restaurants and cafes. Bailey Smith
Bailey Smith (born 7 December 2000) is a professional Australian rules football player. Smith was recruited by the Western Bulldogs with the 7th draft pick in the 2018 AFL draft, making his debut in the 2019 AFL season. He received a nomination for the 2019 AFL Rising Star award in round 9 of the 2019 season, placing fourth in the overall count at the conclusion of the season. Since then, he has been a dual member of the 22under22 team, and a recipient of the Chris Grant Best First Year Player Award. Early life and career Smith played his early career for the East Malvern Junior Football Club in Melbourne's south-east. In 2011, he won the MSJFL under-11 west division best and fairest award.
