The LennonOno Grant for Peace is an award presented by artist and peace activist Yoko Ono. The grant, a sum of $50,000, has been awarded biennially to people and organisations chosen by Ono herself since 2002, in honour of Ono's late husband John Lennon. Peace is a concept of societal friendship and harmony in the absence of hostility and violence. In a social sense, peace is commonly used to mean a lack of conflict (such as war) and freedom from fear of violence between individuals or groups. Throughout history, leaders have used peacemaking and diplomacy to establish a type of behavioral restraint that has resulted in the establishment of regional peace or economic growth through various forms of agreements or peace treaties. John Perkins (author)
John Perkins (born January 28, 1945) is an American author. His best known book is ''Confessions of an Economic Hit Man'' (2004), in which Perkins describes playing a role in a process of economic colonization of Third World countries on behalf of what he portrays as a cabal of corporations, banks, and the United States government. The book's claims were met with skepticism and rebuttal by some involved parties. The book spent more than 70 weeks on the ''New York Times'' bestseller list. Perkins has also written about mystical aspects of indigenous cultures, including shamanism. Biography Perkins graduated from the Tilton School in 1963. A note is a string of text placed at the bottom of a page in a book or document or at the end of a chapter, volume, or the whole text. Make the Road New York (MRNY) is the largest progressive grassroots immigrant-led organization in New York state. Katalin Ladik (born Újvidék, 25 October 1942) is a Hungarian poet, performance artist and actress. She was born in Újvidék, Kingdom of Hungary (today Novi Sad, Serbia), and in the last 20 years she has lived and worked alternately in Novi Sad, in Budapest, Hungary and on the island of Hvar, Croatia. Jeremy Francis Gilley (born 1969) is an English actor, filmmaker and founder of the nonprofit organisation Peace One Day.
