Lemon Pop
Lemon Pop (Japanese: レモンポップ, foaled February 15, 2018) is an active Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse. His major wins include the February Stakes, Mile Championship Nambu Hai, and Champions Cup (horse race), Champions Cup. He was awarded the JRA Award for Best Dirt Horse for 2023. His name was derived from a Japanese beverage named "Lemon Squash" ( Japanese: レモンスカッシュ). Racing career 2020/2021: two/three-year old season Lemon Pop made his debut at the Tokyo Racecourse on November 7, 2020, in a two-year old newcomer race on dirt at the distance of 1,300 meters, and won the race while he was ridden by Keita Tosaki. Three weeks later, he won the Cattleya Stakes. In his three-year old season, he was pre-registered to the UAE Derby and the Kentucky Derby but was withdrawn and sent to graze. Negishi Stakes
The Negishi Stakes (Japanese 根岸ステークス) is a Grade 3 horse race for Thoroughbreds aged four and over, run in February over a distance of 1400 metres on dirt at Tokyo Racecourse. The Negishi Stakes was first run in 1987 and has held Grade 3 status ever since. The race was contested over 1200 metres from 1990 to 2000 and again in 2003. The 2003 edition was run at Nakayama Racecourse. The race is named in honour of Negishi Racecourse, a former horse racing venue in Yokohama.
