Lekiu-class Frigates
The ''Lekiu''-class frigates are a class of frigates of the Royal Malaysian Navy. They are the largest and most modern surface combatants of the Royal Malaysian Navy, until the ''Maharaja Lela''-class frigates are completed. The class comprises two vessels, and KD ''Lekiu''. The class is named after the second ship of the class which was launched before ''Jebat''. The two ships of the class are named after Hang Lekiu and Hang Jebat, two figures from the Malay 15th-century epic narrative ''Hikayat Hang Tuah''. They share this characteristic with the two s, KD ''Kasturi'' and KD ''Lekir'', as well as the old frigate-turned-training ship , all of which are named after figures from the epic as well. KD ''Lekiu'' is a guided missile frigate currently serving in the Royal Malaysian Navy and one of the major naval assets for Malaysia. Together with her sister ship ''Jebat'', ''Lekiu'' serves in the 23rd Frigate Squadron of the Royal Malaysian Navy. The Farnborough Airshow, officially the Farnborough International Airshow, is a trade exhibition for the aerospace and defence industries, where civilian and military aircraft are demonstrated to potential customers and investors. Hang Tuah
Hang Tuah ( Jawi: , /tuah/ or /toh/) is said to have been a warrior who lived in Malacca during the reign of Sultan Mansur Shah in the 15th century. There is limited historical evidence for his existence. However, he was supposedly a great laksamana, or admiral, and a silat master. Hang Tuah is the most illustrious warrior figure in Malay literature. There is much in dispute about the factual basis of Hang Tuah's story. A training ship is a ship used to train students as sailors. The term is mostly used to describe ships employed by navies to train future officers. Essentially there are two types: those used for training at sea and old hulks used to house classrooms. KD Lekir (F-26)
KD ''Lekir'' is the second ship of corvette currently serving in the Royal Malaysian Navy. Together with her sister ship ''Kasturi'', ''Lekir'' serves in the 22nd Corvette Squadron of the Royal Malaysian Navy. Construction and career ''Lekir'' was built by the German Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft (HDW) shipyard. She was launched on 14 May 1983 and commissioned on 15 August 1984. In October 2011, ''Lekir'' underwent an extensive modernisation known as Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) and it was completed in November 2014.
