Lekhapani Railway Station
Lekhapani is a railway station on the Lumding–Dibrugarh section. It is located in Tinsukia district in the Indian state of Assam. History Lekhapani railway station, opened around 1890, was a major coal-loading point for Tipong collieries. There is a display tablet at the station which says that the station was closed to commercial traffic in 1993 and the last train ran on the line in 1997. The railway station was restored in 2009. Lekhapani used to be the easternmost railway station of Indian Railways. When gauge conversions took place around 1997, Ledo became the last and the easternmost station. The broad gauge continued up to Tirap for railway sidings. Beyond that the remnants of the -wide metre-gauge track to Lekhapani was visible (as of 2005). Margherita (IPA: ˌmɑːgəˈrɪtə) is a census town in Tinsukia district in the Indian state of Assam. The small sub-divisional town has scenic beauty and is surrounded by hills, tea gardens, forests and the Dihing River. It has a beautiful golf course at the foot of the hills and a small stream running through. Although considered to be a small town, Margherita boasts of many hospitals and educational institutions and is regularly frequented by visitors on account of it being the last proper town of Upper Assam. Tirap Gaon, Ledo
Tirap Gaon, Ledo also known as Tirap Colliery, is a small village in Margherita Tehsil in Tinsukia District of north-eastern state Assam, India. It is located around 3 km away from nearest town Ledo, 11 km away from sub-divisional town Margherita and 60 km away from district headquarter Tinsukia. Tirap Gaon is connected to Makum by National Highway 38 (old numbering). The Indian census counts Tirap Gaon as two villages: No.1 and No.2. This place is known for opencast coal mining since 1983 under North Eastern Coalfields, a unit of Coal India Limited. In 2018–2019, an international team of researchers discovered fossil impressions of two previously unknown species of bamboo ('' Bambusiculmus tirapensis'' and '' Bambusiculmus makumensis'') in the Tirap coalmine. Pangsau Pass
Pangsau Pass or Pan Saung Pass, in altitude, lies on the crest of the Patkai Hills on the India–Myanmar border. The pass offers one of the easiest routes into Burma from the Assam plains. It is named after the closest Burmese village, Pangsau, that lies 2 km beyond the pass to the east. Makum (IPA: mɑːkəm) is a town and a town area committee in Tinsukia district in the Indian state of Assam. It should not be mistaken for Makum Pathar (the place near Digboi where, crude oil was first struck in Asia). It is the meeting point of three premier towns of upper Assam namely Tinsukia Digboi and Doomdooma. The National Highway-37 and National Highway-38 meet at Makum.
