Leira (river)
Leira is a river in Innlandet and Akershus, Norway. It comes from Leirsjøen, above sea level, in Romeriksåsene between Hadeland and Romerike, in Lunner municipality in Innlandet. From here, it runs east through the countryside to Nannestad municipality in Akershus, and exits in Stråtjern, above sea level). It comes down to Romerikssletten westwards, until Maura and swings southwest, until it joins the Rotua and moves southeast and then southwards. Southwest of Gardermoen it runs through land between Nannestad and Ullensaker, along Gjerdrum and Ullensaker, and Gjerdrum and Sørum municipalities. Northeast of Hekseberget it joins the Gjermåa, and at the same time runs into Skedsmo municipality. Akershus () is a traditional region and current electoral district in Norway, with Oslo as its main city and traditional capital. It is named after the Akershus Fortress in Oslo. Gjerdrum () is a municipality in Akershus in Viken county, Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Romerike. Gjerdrum borders the municipalities of Nannestad, Nittedal, and Ullensaker, and Lillestrøm. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Ask. Name and coat of arms The municipality (originally the parish) is named after the old Gjerdrum farm ( Norse ''Gerðarvin''). The first element is the genitive of a river name ''Gerð'' and the last element is ''vin'' 'meadow, pasture'. Clay
Clay is a type of fine-grained natural soil material containing clay minerals (hydrous aluminium phyllosilicates, e.g. kaolin, Al2 Si2 O5( OH)4). Fet, Norway
Fet was a municipality in Akershus county, Norway. It was part of the Romerike traditional region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Fetsund. Fet was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The new municipality of Rælingen was separated from Fet on 1 July 1929. The part of Enebakk municipality lying east of lake Øyeren was transferred to Fet in 1962. On 1 January 2020 Fet was merged with Skedsmo and Sørum municipalities to form Lillestrøm municipality. Nitelva
Nitelva is a river that rises at Grua and flows to Harestuvatnet in the southern part of Lunner municipality in Oppland. The river then flows southwards and ends at Øyeren. The river has at this point run for around and has dropped around . The river is part of the Oslomarkavassdragene. The northern part of Nitelva runs between Hakadal and is called Hakadalselva. The journey to Øyeren begins with rapids, before slowing to a broad meandering river through Nittedal. The last kilometres of the river run through Skedsmo and Rælingen municipalities, first as a scenic part of Lillestrøm city and Øvre Rælingen with roads on both banks, passing through an industrialised area before ending at the delta in the north of Øyeren in Rælingen. Meander
A meander is one of a series of regular sinuous curves in the channel of a river or other watercourse. It is produced as a watercourse erodes the sediments of an outer, concave bank ( cut bank) and deposits sediments on an inner, convex bank which is typically a point bar. The result of this coupled erosion and sedimentation is the formation of a sinuous course as the channel migrates back and forth across the axis of a floodplain. The zone within which a meandering stream periodically shifts its channel is known as a meander belt. It typically ranges from 15 to 18 times the width of the channel.
