Benjamin Leiner
Benny Leonard (born Benjamin Leiner; April 7, 1896 – April 18, 1947) was a Jewish Americans, Jewish American professional Boxing, boxer who held the world lightweight championship for eight years, from 1917 to 1925. Widely considered one of the all-time greats, he was ranked 8th on ''The Ring (magazine), The Ring'' magazine's list of the "80 Best Fighters of the Last 80 Years" and placed 7th in ESPN's "50 Greatest Boxers of All-Time". In 2005, the International Boxing Research Organization ranked Leonard as the #1 lightweight, and #8 best pound-for-pound fighter of all time. Statistical website BoxRec rates Leonard as the 2nd best lightweight ever, while ''The Ring'' magazine founder Nat Fleischer placed him at #2. Božidar Leiner
Božidar Dragutin Leiner (3 April 19193 May 1942) was Croatian communist and Partisan. Leiner was born in village Čukovec, near Ludbreg, on April 3, 1919 to a Croatian Jewish family. He was raised with three siblings, sister Adela, and brothers Valter and Josip. Leiner went to elementary school in Ludbreg, and high school in Zagreb. In Zagreb, Leiner enrolled the Faculty of Geodesy, University of Zagreb. As a young man, Leitner went to Ludbreg library where he met the supporters of the League of Communists of Croatia. In 1941, he was mobilized in the Croatian Home Guard, but soon after he escaped and joined the Partisans. During his stay with Partisans, Leiner mostly fought in Varaždin County. On May 3, 1942, Leiner and three of his comrades were ambushed and killed by Ustaše. He was buried three days later, in the part of the Ludbreg cemetery intended for the outlaws. Grand Rabbi Gershon Chanoch Henech Leiner of Radzyn (1839 – December 15, 1890) was a rebbe of the Izhbitza – Radzin dynasty, and the first to be known as "the Radzyner Rebbe". Biography He was born in Izbica, Poland in 1839, where he studied until his grandfather's death in 1854. His father was R. Jacob, the second rebbe of the Izbica-Radzyn dynasty. He was a prolific writer of a large number of commentaries, including ''Sidrei Taharot'', a Gemara-style work on the Talmudic tractates Kelim and Oholot. Leiner died 4 Teves 5651 (December 15, 1890) and was buried in Radzyn. Her most notable work is the series A Szent Johanna gimi (Joan of Arc High School), that she later clarified is fictitious and not based on her own life. Grand Rabbi Shmuel Shlomo Leiner (1909–1942) was the Radziner Rebbe (the fifth Rebbe of the Izhbitza – Radzin Hasidic dynasty). Early Years Rabbi Shmuel Shlomo Leiner was born in 1909. He was the son of Rabbi Mordechai Yosef Elazar Leiner, who was the Radziner Rebbe and author of ''Tiferes Yosef''. In 1928 he married Shifra Mirel Kalish, the daughter of Grand Rabbi Yosef Kalish of Amshinov who was also the Rabbi of Ostrów Mazowiecka. After his marriage, he lived near his father-in-law.
