Leilani Reklai
Leilani Reklai (born December 27, 1966) is a Palauan politician and businesswoman. She has served as the chairperson of the board of directors of the Palau National Communications Corporation. Leilani Reklai was tentatively elected the governor of the state of Aimeliik in the state elections of November 13, 2007. Early results showed Reklai leading her opponent and cousin, Abina Etpison, by just 35 votes. Reklai had 218 votes while Etpison, a Palauan legislator, had 183 votes. A total of 468 were cast in the Aimeliik election. 58 absentee ballots were still to be counted to determine the winner. Leilani Reklai became the first female governor of Aimeliik and only the third female governor in Palau's history. Aimeliik
Aimeliik is an administrative division of the island country of Palau. It is one of the Republic of Palau's 16 states. It has an area of 52 km² and a population of 334 (census 2015). State capital is the village of Mongami. Following the four other villages which are: Medorm, Imul, Elechui and Ngmechiangel. The island is the location to Palau's largest powerplant. The state is also a short distance from the international airport. In the village of Medorm there is the highest powered short wave radio station in Palau. This is owned and operated by High Adventure Ministries originally from the US but now owned by a consortium of Chinese national churches. Airai, located on the southern coast of Babeldaob island, is the second-most populous state of Palau. It contains the country's chief airport, Roman Tmetuchl International Airport, and is connected by the Koror–Babeldaob Bridge to nearby Koror Island. Geography The state has an area of 44 km2 (17 mi2), and a total population of 2,455 Census, the second largest in the country. Akiko Sugiyama
Akiko C. Bedor Sugiyama is a Palauan politician, and widow of Palauan senator Peter Sugiyama. As late as 1995, she was the only woman who had ever been elected to the Palau National Congress. In 2005, she was elected governor of Ngardmau State in a special election after the impeachment of Schwartz Tudong over the misuse of public funds. Ngardmau
Ngardmau is one of Palau's sixteen states and is located on the west side of Babeldaob between the states of Ngaraard and Ngeremlengui. Geography The total area of Ngardmau is . At the time of the 2015 census, 185 people lived in the state. There were 46 households situated in three hamlets: Ngetbong, Ngerutoi and Urdmau. The hamlets have no visible boundaries, but instead form one settlement. Ngardmau is located on the northwest coast of Babeldaob and includes the long drainage basins of the Diongradid and the Irur Rivers. Ngardmau is bordered on the south by Ngeremlengui and on the east by Ngiwal and Ngaraard. The coast is lined with a thick fringe of mangroves. In the interior, rolling hills rise to the highest ground in Palau. Near the upper reaches of the Diongradid is a large waterfall.
