Leif Rygg
Leif Rygg (3 May 1940 – 4 February 2018) was a Norwegian hardingfele fiddle player and folk music instructor. Rygg was born in Voss and learned traditional fiddle playing from Sigbjørn Bernhoft Osa, Lars Skjervheim and Anders Kjerland. His albums include ''Nøringen'' from 1980 (jointly with Knut Hamre), ''Bjølleslåtten'' from 1994, a collection of traditional tunes after Ola Mosafinn, in collaboration with Knut Buen and Kåre Nordstoga, and which was awarded Spellemannprisen, and ''Lengt'' from 1995. Voss
Voss () is a municipality and a traditional district in Vestland county, Norway. The administrative center of the municipality is the village of Vossevangen. Other villages include Bolstadøyri, Borstrondi, Evanger, Kvitheim, Mjølfjell, Oppheim, Stalheim, and Vinje. The municipality is the 35th largest by area of Norway's 356 municipalities. Norwegian National Association for Traditional Music and Dance(''Norsk Folkemusikk- og Danselag'') is a nationwide organization that aims to support the folk music and rural dance tradition in Norway. The organization (NFD) was founded in 1987 as a breakaway organization from the National Association of Folk Musicians (''Landslaget for Spelemenn'') which was founded in 1923. NFD arranges seminars and concerts. NFD also has released ''Kvinten'', an annual magazine for traditional folk music. The organization emphasizes the preservation and strengthening of the unbroken oral traditions and the authentic qualities they give to Norwegian instrumental music, folk singing and dancing. Spellemannprisen, often referred to as the Norwegian Grammy Awards in English, is a Norwegian music award presented to Norwegian musicians. The award was established by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), an organization that represents the interests of the recording industry worldwide. First awarded in 1973, the prize honours musicians from the previous year; it is still awarded annually, usually in January or February. Kåre Nordstoga (born 18 December 1954) is a Norwegian organist. Nordstoga had his early studies under Harald Aune and Odd Jacob Unhammer in Notodden where he grew up. He went on to study at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, where his teachers included Kaare Ørnung, Søren Gangfløt, Magne Elvestrand and Bjørn Boysen. Nordstoga has also studied with David Sanger in London. Knut Buen
Knut Buen (born 31 October 1948) is a Norwegian fiddler, composer, folklorist and publisher. He was born in Kongsberg; the son of folk musician Anders Buen and Margit Tjønn, and is brother of Hauk Buen, Agnes Buen Garnås and the artist Kari Buen. He won the national music contest ''Landskappleiken'' in 1983 and 1986, and is known for his collection of traditional songs and melodies.
