Leif Gunnar Smerud
Leif Gunnar Smerud (born 24 January 1977) is a Norwegian professional football manager, former player and psychologist. He held the position of head coach for Norwegian under-21 side since 2014. In June 2022, he led the team into 2023 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. Background Leif Gunnar Smerud has a Cand.Psych degree from the University of Copenhagen, and is a licensed clinical psychologist. He also studied at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences. He holds a UEFA Pro license, and has been working as Deputy Technical Director in the Norwegian Football Federation. UEFA Women's Euro 2009
The 2009 UEFA Women's Championship, or just Women's Euro 2009, was played in Finland between 23 August and 10 September 2009. The host was appointed on 11 July 2006, in a UEFA Executive Committee meeting in Berlin and the Finnish proposal won over the Dutch proposal. The UEFA Women's Championship is a regular tournament involving European national teams from countries affiliated to UEFA, the European governing body, who have qualified for the competition. The competition aims to determine which national women's team is the best in Europe. The 2009 tournament was won by Germany for a seventh time in ten events. Eliteserien
Eliteserien () is a Norwegian professional league for association football clubs. At the top of the Norwegian football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Norwegian First Division. Seasons run from March to November with each team playing 30 matches (playing each other home and away). Most games are played on Sunday evenings. Norwegian First Division
The Norwegian First Division, also called 1. divisjon and OBOS-ligaen (named sponsor is property developer OBOS), is the second-highest level of the Norwegian football league system. Each year, the top finishing teams in the 1. divisjon are promoted to the Eliteserien, and the lowest finishing teams are relegated to 2. divisjon. 1. divisjon was previously known as 2. divisjon (1963–1990) and replaced regional league Landsdelsserien (1951–1962) after the latter was dissolved after the 1961–62 season. Bjarne Berntsen
Bjarne Berntsen (born 21 December 1956) is a Norwegian football coach and former player. He is the elder brother of fellow football coach Alf Ingve Berntsen. Playing career Bjarne Berntsen began his football career at local club Figgjo IL. He signed for Norwegian top division club Viking in 1977, and stayed there until 1982. During this period he played 33 matches for the Norway national football team, including the famous September 1981 win over England where he played at the right back position. Early manager years After retiring as a player, Berntsen coached Figgjo, Bryne and Viking. Between 1986 and 1987, Berntsen was also the assistant coach of the Norwegian national team. Benny Lennartson
Benny Lennartsson is a Swedish football coach, former football and bandy player. He has managed Örebro SK, Lyngby FC and Bristol City among others. Managerial career Viking In 1988, Lennartsson signed for Norwegian club Viking FK. He won promotion from the second tier in his first season at the club. The next season, Viking were the winners of the Norwegian Cup by beating Molde in the final. In 1991, he won the first tier of Norwegian football, before leaving the club the same season. In 2000, Lennartsson joined Viking for a second spell. It would prove to be a successful one, as the club finished in third place in his first two seasons in charge. Viking also got to the final of the Norwegian Cup in both 2000 and 2001, but only winning it in the latter. His last season as manager of Viking, was in 2002. Kjell Schou-Andreassen
Kjell "Schou'en" Schou-Andreassen (19 June 1940 – 19 November 1997) was a Norwegian footballer and one of the country's most successful football managers. He is best known as manager of the Norway national football team 1974-1977, together with Nils Arne Eggen. Although he played midfield for Viking FK (1958–59, 1964–70, 202 games), he also played for Stavanger IF (1960–61) and Sportsklubben Brann (1962–63) when they won Norwegian First Division 1963. He played one Norway national under-19 football team, U19 game (1958). He coached Viking FK as assistant of Sverre Andersen (1971), and as head coach (1972), which won the club the Norwegian First Division 1972. UEFA Coaching Licences
UEFA, the governing body for football in Europe, mandates several coaching licences for professional managers, each valid for coaching at a certain level. These include the UEFA Pro Licence, the UEFA A Licence, and the UEFA B Licence. They are issued by each UEFA member state's football federation and are valid for three years.
