Leif Arne Langøy (born 1956) is a Norwegian businessperson. Since 2003 he has been chief executive officer, and since 2006 also chair, of Aker, and holds several board positions within the group, and is chair of Aker Holding, Aker Seafoods, Aker Drilling, Aker Floating Production, Aker BioMarine and Aker Exploration, and is board member of TRG Holding, Aker Solutions and Aker Philadelphia Shipyard. Langøy was educated with a '' siviløkonom'' degree from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration. Aker Solutions ASA, an engineering company based in Oslo, provides the products, systems and services required to unlock energy from sources such as oil, gas, offshore wind and capture. The company, founded in 1841, was known as Aker Kværner until 2008. In 2020, the company announced a merger with Kværner ASA Aker Kværner (OSE: AKVER) was founded in 2004 from the major restructuring of a complex "Aker Kværner" business unit, formed originally in 2002 by the merger of Aker Maritime and Kværner Oil & Gas. Siviløkonom (literally "civil economist") is an academic degree issued within the field of business administration. It consists of a 3 year bachelor's degree followed by a two years masters degree and is also a professional title in Norway (with corresponding titles in Denmark and Sweden, see below under "See also"), obtained after the total of 5 years of studies. The title is protected and can only be used by persons having met certain qualifications as directed by the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research. Aker Philadelphia Shipyard
Philly Shipyard, formerly Aker Philadelphia Shipyard, is a commercial shipyard located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States on part of the site of the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. The commercial yard began after the United States Navy had ended most of its operations at the site. The yard is a listed company on the Oslo Stock Exchange and part of the Aker Group controlled by Kjell Inge Røkke. The yard targets producing ships within the Jones Act for domestic shipping, primarily product tankers and container ships. History The yard was started as a cooperation between Kværner and the City of Philadelphia, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Government of the United States.
