''Leidi'' is a 2014 Colombian short drama film directed by Simón Mesa Soto. It won the Short Film Palme d'Or at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. Synopsis Leidi lives with her mom and her baby. Her boyfriend, Alexis, hasn't shown up in days. That sunny morning, after she's bathed her baby, Leidi is sent to buy plantains. Outside, a guy tells her he has seen Alexis with another girl. Leidi won't return home until she finds the father of her child. Simón Mesa Soto
Simón Mesa Soto, is a Colombian film director and screenwriter known for his short films '' Leidi'' and ''Madre'', and his first feature film '' Amparo'', which had its premiere at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival. Early years Simón Mesa Soto was born in Medellin, Colombia. Studied Audiovisual Communication at Universidad de Antioquia, where he also worked as lecturer in film editing before moving to the UK. 2014 Cannes Film Festival
The 67th Cannes Film Festival was held from 14 to 25 May 2014. New Zealand film director Jane Campion was the head of the jury for the main competition section. The Palme d'Or was awarded to the Turkish film '' Winter Sleep'' directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan. The festival opened with the long delayed '' Grace of Monaco'', directed by Olivier Dahan and starring Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly, which played out of competition. The restored 4K version of Sergio Leone's 1964 western ''A Fistful of Dollars'', served as the closing night film.
