Lehrte Railway
Lehrte is a town in the Hanover (district), district of Hanover, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 17 km east of Hanover. In the 19th century Lehrte was the most important railway junction in the former Kingdom of Hanover. As of the 21st century, it has a population of 43,000. History The first documented history of the area was in 1147 and shows that, what is now known as Lehrte, was a relatively small farming village. Up to the year 1352, when the church, now known as Nikolauskirche, was built; the local farming residents attended Sunday church services in the village of Steinwedel. At this time, Lehrte lay in the historical region known as the ''Großen Freien'' which literally translates to the ''big free'' and lay far from major transit and traffic routes. Staßfurt
Staßfurt (Stassfurt) () is a town in the Salzlandkreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is situated on both sides of the river Bode, approximately northeast of Aschersleben, and south of Magdeburg. Pop. (2005) 23,538. It was one of the chief seats of the German salt-producing industry. It is still surrounded in part by the ruins of its ancient walls, but, with the exception of the parish church of St. John (15th century), there are no buildings worthy of special notice. History The first mention of the place was in connection with the village of Alt-Staßfurt in 806, in an invitation by Emperor Charlemagne to the Abbot Fulrad of St. Quentin to hold an army meeting at Starasfurt on the Bode River. Triathlon At The 2020 Summer Olympics
triathlon competitions at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo featured fifty-five athletes competing in each of the men's and women's events. It also added the new mixed team relay event. Format The Olympic triathlon contains three components; a swim, cycle, and a run. The competitions take the form of a single event between all competitors with no heats. The new mixed team event features teams of four (two men and two women). Each athlete performs a triathlon of swim, cycle, and a run in a relay format. Qualification The qualification period spanned from 11 May 2018 to 11 May 2020. A total of 110 athletes (55 for each gender) vied for the coveted spots with a maximum of three per gender for each NOC. Triathlete
A triathlon is an endurance multisport race consisting of swimming, cycling, and running over various distances. Triathletes compete for fastest overall completion time, racing each segment sequentially with the time transitioning between the disciplines included. The word is of Greek origin, from τρεῖς or ''treis'' (three) and ἆθλος or ''athlos'' (competition). The sport originated in the late 1970s in Southern California as sports clubs and individuals developed the sport. This history has meant that variations of the sport were created and still exist. It also led to other three-stage races using the name triathlon despite not being continuous or not consisting of swim, bike, and run elements. Reinhard Friedrich Michael Mey (born 21 December 1942) is a German "Liedermacher" (literally "songmaker", a German-style singer-songwriter). In France he is known as ''Frédérik Mey''. By 2009, Mey had released 27 German albums, and generally releases a new album approximately every two years; his first album was ''Ich wollte wie Orpheus singen'' (1967); the most recent studio album is ''Das Haus an der Ampel'' (2020). His biggest success to date was ''Mein Achtel Lorbeerblatt'' (1972). His most famous song by far is "Über den Wolken" (1974), which has been covered by numerous German artists. Werner Lampe (born 30 November 1952) is a retired German swimmer and Olympic medalist. He is the brother of Hans Lampe and father of Oliver Lampe. He participated at the 1972 and 1976 Summer Olympics, winning a silver medal in 4 × 200 m freestyle relay, and a bronze medal in 200 m freestyle in 1972. Kurt Hirschfeld (born 10 March 1902 in Lehrte, Germany; died 8 November 1964 in Zurich) was a German theater director and dramaturg in Zurich. Life and career Kurt Hirschfeld was born on 10 March 1902 in Lehrte, Lower Saxony, Germany to the Jewish merchant Hermann Hirschfeld (1871–1941) and his wife Selma Zierl (1877–1926), the daughter of a rabbi. After completing primary school in Lehrte, Hirschfeld transferred in 1914 to the Realgymnasium on Aegidientorplatz in Hannover, where he composed poetry and essays.
