Legrena ( el, Λεγρενά) is a coastal village in East Attica in southern Greece on the coast of the Attica peninsula. It is part of the municipality Lavreotiki. It lies along Greek National Road 91, to the west of Sounion. It contains an extensive beach and bay of the same name. Lavreotiki
Lavreotiki is a municipality at the southeasternnmost tip of the Attica peninsula in the Greek regional unit of East Attica. Its municipal seat is the town of Laurium (''Lavrio''). It is historically important as a significant ancient mining district, most notably in the villages of Laurium and Thorikos on the southeastern seaboard during the 6th, 5th, and 4th centuries BCE. As such it financed the wealth of Athens and the emergence of the Athenian Empire through the slave-powered mining efforts for silver and lead, beginning with the discovery of 2 deep-vein mining efforts during the 480's. Prior to that development, which at Themistocles urging in 483 BC led to the expansion of the Athenian fleet to 200 ships, only surface-mining was deployed as a technique for harvesting silver. More than 250 ore washeries have been identified by archaeologists and geologists in the district. Greek National Road 91
National Road 91 ( el, Εθνική Οδός 91, abbreviated as EO91) is a highway in Attica, Greece. It runs from the centre of Athens to Sounio, via Vouliagmeni. It was first constructed in the 1950s as a one lane per direction road, but the section between central Athens and Varkiza was later extended to two lanes per direction. It has many extremely dangerous curves, and accidents happen frequently. Currently, there are no plans to replace it with a bypass or reconstruct certain dangerous parts, but there has been an effort to increase police presence to prevent illegal racing and violation of speed limits which were common phenomena over the last 10 years. The highway becomes busier during the summer, as most of the places it connects are popular vacation spots. The highway also goes past what was Ellinikon International Airport (Athens old airport). Cape Sounion (Modern Greek: Aκρωτήριο Σούνιο ''Akrotírio Soúnio'' ; grc, Ἄκρον Σούνιον ''Άkron Soúnion'', latinized ''Sunium''; Venetian: ''Capo Colonne'' "Cape of Columns") is the promontory at the southernmost tip of the Attic peninsula, south of the town of Lavrio (ancient Thoricus), and 69.5 km (43.1 miles) southeast of Athens. European Public Law Center
European Public Law Center (EPLC) was a non-profit institution of international character, founded on 16 November 1995 in Athens, Greece. The aim of the institute was to promote rule of law and democracy across the whole European Union and other countries. EPLC was initially located in downtown Athens, and later relocated its headquarters to Legrena, near Sounio, Attica. EPLC was conceived by the European Group of Public Law and came into effect by a law of the Hellenic Parliament (law 2358/16.11.1995). Spyridon Flogaitis was the director of EPLC from its foundation. Foreign governments and universities had a right to be represented in EPLC's Board of Directors, and as of 2008 a dozen of governments were represented, together with 33 universities.
