The legislative districts of Oriental Mindoro are the representations of the province of Oriental Mindoro in the various national legislatures of the Philippines. The province is currently represented in the lower house of the Congress of the Philippines through its first and second congressional districts. History Prior to gaining separate representation, areas now under the jurisdiction of Oriental Mindoro were represented under the lone district of the undivided Mindoro Province from 1898 to 1951. The enactment of Republic Act No. 505 on June 13, 1950 split the old Mindoro Province into Occidental Mindoro and Oriental Mindoro, and provided each of them separate representation in Congress. There are 82 provinces at present, which are further subdivided into component cities and municipalities. San Teodoro, officially the Municipality of San Teodoro ( tgl, Bayan ng San Teodoro), is a 4th class municipality of the Philippines, municipality in the Philippine Province, province of Oriental Mindoro, Philippines. Puerto Galera
Puerto Galera, officially the Municipality of Puerto Galera ( tgl, Bayan ng Puerto Galera), is a 1st class municipality in the province of Oriental Mindoro, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 41,961 people. It is mainly accessible from the Southern Luzon gateway port of Batangas by bamboo boats (''bangka'') operated by local regular operators. Naujan, officially the Municipality of Naujan ( tgl, Bayan ng Naujan), is a 1st class municipality in the province of Oriental Mindoro, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 109,587 people. It assumed the status of a full-fledged municipality on January 4, 1905, under Act 1280. Calapan, officially the City of Calapan ( fil, Lungsod ng Calapan), is a 3rd class Cities of the Philippines#Legal classification, component city and capital of the Provinces of the Philippines, province of Oriental Mindoro, Philippines. Arnan Panaligan
Arnan Capulong Panaligan (born January 21, 1962) is a Filipino lawyer and politician. He has served as the representative for Oriental Mindoro's 1st congressional district since 2022 as part of the local Mindoro Bago Sarili party. He had previously served as the Mayor of Calapan from 2013 to 2022, having previously been mayor from 1995 to 2004. He was also the Governor of Oriental Mindoro from 2004 to 2010. Early career Panaligan was born in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro on January 21, 1962 to Leandro and Araceli Panaligan. He studied at Holy Infant Academy before attending Ateneo De Manila University where he studied law. He also studied at Divine Word College of Calapan. It has been represented in the House of Representatives since 1987.
