Legendaddy (album)
''Legendaddy'' (stylized in all caps) is the seventh and final studio album by Puerto Rican rapper Daddy Yankee, released on March 24, 2022 by El Cartel Records, Universal Music Group and Republic Records. Published 10 years after his previous studio album, ''Legendaddy'' is Daddy Yankee's last record, as he announced that he would retire from music after the end of his farewell concert tour, La Última Vuelta, in 2023. He decided to retire while working on the album, as he felt accomplished and wanted to enjoy everything he had achieved with his career. It is his first and only album released directly under Universal, rather than its Latin division, after signing a multimillionaire global distribution deal in 2020. Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez (born February 3, 1976), known professionally as Daddy Yankee, is a Puerto Rican rapper, singer, composer, and actor. Known as the " King of Reggaetón" by music critics and fans alike, he is the artist who coined the word ''reggaeton'' in 1991 in the mixtape Playero 34 in the song "So persigueme, no te detengas" to describe the new music genre that was emerging from Puerto Rico that synthesized American hip-hop, Hispanic Caribbean music, and Jamaican reggae rhythms with Spanish rapping and singing. It was released on March 24, 2022, simultaneously with Daddy Yankee's eighth and final studio album, ''Legendaddy'', among various other singles from the record. Dembow
Dembow is a Dominican musical genre that can be traced to a riddim that originated in Jamaican dancehall. When Shabba Ranks released "Dem Bow" in 1990, it did not take long for the dembow genre to form. Riddims were built from the song and the sound became a popular part of reggaeton. From there it took off in Dominican Republic creating the sound UNDERWORLD ("Bajo Mundo" in Spanish). It hit the streets of New York and from there it made its way to all of Latin America. The Dominican Dembow sound keeps evolving and has been fusioned with Trap music since 2016 and it's also fused with Bachata and Merengue from the Dominican Republic. Bachata is a genre of music that originated in the Dominican Republic in the 20th century. It is a fusion of southwestern European influences, mainly Spanish guitar music, with indigenous Taino and Sub Saharan African musical elements, representative of the cultural diversity of the Dominican population. Salsa music is a style of Latin American music. Because most of the basic musical components predate the labeling of salsa, there have been many controversies regarding its origin. Most songs considered as salsa are primarily based on son montuno, with elements of Mambo (music), mambo, Latin jazz, Bomba (Puerto Rico), bomba, plena and guaracha. La Última Vuelta World Tour was the eighth and farewell concert tour by Puerto Rican rapper and singer Daddy Yankee, in support of his seventh and final studio album ''Legendaddy'' (2022). Comprising 89 shows, the tour began on July 16, 2022 in Torremolinos, Spain and concluded on December 22, 2022 in Miami, Florida. It visited North America twice while making a one-month-lasting stop in South America, as well as a single European show in Spain as part of a music festival. Initially, the tour was planned to end on January 8, 2023 with three sold out shows in Puerto Rico at Estadio Hiram Bithorn, commemorated 30 years of a shooting incident that occurred on January 6, 1993, which allowed Daddy Yankee to focus entirely on his music career due to a bullet wound that ended his dream of becoming a professional baseball player.
