Lega Nord Trentino
Lega Trentino ( en, Trentino League), whose complete name is ( en, Trentino League for Salvini Premier), is a regionalist political party active in Trentino. The party was a "national" section of Lega Nord (LN) from 1991 to 2000 and has been the regional section of Lega per Salvini Premier (LSP) in Trentino since 2020. The party is led by pro-tempore commissioner Diego Binelli. Maurizio Fugatti, who led the party from 2005 to 2018, has been President of Trentino since 2018. History The party was founded in 1990 by some Trentino autonomists who wanted to join Lega Nord, as the Trentino Tyrolean Autonomist Party (PATT) had refused to do so. They included Elisabetta Bertotti, Erminio Boso (former member of Integral Autonomy and the PATT), Sergio Divina (former member of the Italian Liberal Party), Sergio Muraro and Alessandro Savoi. 2008 Italian General Election
A snap election was held in Italy on 13–14 April 2008. The election came after President Giorgio Napolitano dissolved the Italian Parliament on 6 February 2008, following the defeat of the government of Prime Minister Romano Prodi in a January 2008 Senate vote of confidence and the unsuccessful tentative appointment of Franco Marini with the aim to change the current electoral law. 2006 Italian General Election
The 2006 Italian general election was held on 9 and 10 April 2006. Romano Prodi, leader of the centre-left coalition The Union, narrowly defeated the incumbent Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, leader of the centre-right coalition House of Freedoms. Initial exit polls suggested a victory for Prodi, but the results narrowed as the count progressed. On 11 April 2006, Prodi declared victory; Berlusconi never conceded defeat and an ensuing dispute formed. Preliminary results showed The Union leading the House of Freedoms in the Chamber of Deputies, with 340 seats to 277, thanks to obtaining a majority bonus (actual votes were distributed 49.81% to 49.74%). United Valleys ( it, Valli Unite) is a regionalist Italian political party active in the province of Trentino, Italy. It was formed in May 2006 by former leader of Lega Nord Trentino Denis Bertolini and seeks to represent the inhabitants of the valleys of Trentino: Val di Sole, Val di Non, Valle dell'Adige, Valli Giudicarie and Vallagarina. The 1996 Italian general election was held on 21 April 1996 to elect members of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Republic. Romano Prodi, leader of the centre-left The Olive Tree, won the election, narrowly defeating Silvio Berlusconi, who led the centre-right Pole for Freedoms. 1993 Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol Regional Election
The Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol regional election of 1993 took place on 21 November 1993. The South Tyrolean People's Party (SVP) and Christian Democracy (DC) resulted the two most voted parties at the regional level. However, while the SVP retained its outright majority in South Tyrol, the DC was the real loser of the election. The party, severely damaged by the ''Tangentopoli'' scandals, lost half of its share of vote both in South Tyrol and the Trentino, where it lost many votes to the Trentino Tyrolean Autonomist Party (PATT) and Lega Nord Trentino (LNT).
