Lefkoşa Municipal Orchestra
Nicosia Municipal Orchestra ( tr, Lefkoşa Belediye Orkestrası) is an orchestra based in North Nicosia operated by the Nicosia Turkish Municipality. As of 2014, it was the largest orchestra in Northern Cyprus. It was established in 1987, under the administration of the mayor Mustafa Akıncı. The project stagnated for some years due to financial difficulties, but its official establishment was realized in 1991. During Şemi Bora's term as mayor, the orchestra developed to incorporate a large number of musicians, educate new musicians in Nicosia, give concerts in parks, squares and public squares and organize the Light Music Composition Contest, which it annually organizes to this date. In 2002, the Chamber Orchestra was established and under Kutlay Erk, emphasis was put on classical music. Nicosia Municipal Theater ( tr, Lefkoşa Belediye Tiyatrosu) is a prominent theatrical organization in Northern Cyprus. Headquartered in North Nicosia, it is organized under the Nicosia Turkish Municipality. It was founded in 1980. The establishment was prompted by the firing of a leading group of actors, including Yaşar Ersoy and Osman Alkaş, following a politically sensitive play that was staged in the wake of the 1980 Turkish coup d'état in the first culture and arts festival in North Nicosia. Despite the limited budget of the municipality, Mustafa Akıncı, the mayor at the time, put effort to provide for the theater. The Turkvision Song Contest (TSC, tr, Türkvizyon Şarkı Yarışması), also known as the Türkvizyon Song Contest, is a recurring song contest created by Turkish music channel TMB TV, inspired by the format of the Eurovision Song Contest. The first edition took place in Eskişehir, Turkey in December 2013. Countries and regions which were Turkic-speaking and of Turkic ethnicity are eligible to participate in the song contest. ''Yeni Düzen'' or ''Yenidüzen'' is a daily newspaper published in Northern Cyprus. Its current editor in chief is Cenk Mutluyakalı. As of July 2014, it consisted of 24 pages and its daily circulation was 4700. The newspaper belongs to the Republican Turkish Party (CTP). It is under the United Media Group along with its sister television channel, Kanal Sim. Regarding its political point of view, Mutluyakalı has stated that while it is nominally owned by the CTP and is a "side" to current events, the newspapers follows an independent line and at times publishes material that is upsetting for the CTP. Lefka ( el, Λεύκα; tr, Lefke) is a town in Cyprus, overlooking Morphou Bay. It is under the '' de facto'' control of Northern Cyprus. In 2011, the town proper had 3,009 inhabitants. Büyük Han (lit. Great Inn) ( el, Μεγάλο Πανδοχείο ''Megálo Pandocheío'') is the largest caravansarai on the island of Cyprus and is considered to be one of the finest buildings on the island..
