Leesa Gazi
Leesa Gazi ( bn, লিসা গাজী; born 14 August 1969) is a Bangladeshi-born British writer, playwright, theatre director and actress based in London. Background Gazi's father fought during the Bangladesh Liberation War. Career Gazi is the co-founder of theatre and arts company, Komola Collective. She was the script-writer and performer of ''Six Seasons'' and Tahmima Anam's '' A Golden Age'' at the Southbank Centre. Her theatrical credits include: '' Birangona: Women of War'', '' Sonata'', ''Rokey's Dream'', ''Demon's Revenge'', ''Ponderful People'', and ''Bonbibi''. East Pakistan
East Pakistan was a Pakistani province established in 1955 by the One Unit Policy, renaming the province as such from East Bengal, which, in modern times, is split between India and Bangladesh. Its land borders were with India and Myanmar, with a coastline on the Bay of Bengal. The Tempest (opera)
''The Tempest'' is an opera by English composer Thomas Adès with a libretto in English by Meredith Oakes based on the play '' The Tempest'' by William Shakespeare. Background and premiere performances Following the success of '' Powder Her Face'', The Royal Opera, Covent Garden, commissioned a new opera from Adès in the late 1990s. Working with a librettist, a poetic version of the Jonestown Massacre of 1978 was prepared, but the composer found it impossible to set it to music. Finally, the libretto he needed emerged from a collaboration with Meredith Oakes. The new opera became a co-production with the Copenhagen Opera House and the Opéra national du Rhin in Strasbourg. British Bangladeshis ( bn, বিলাতী বাংলাদেশী, Bilatī Bangladeshī) are people of Bangladeshi origin who have attained citizenship in the United Kingdom, through immigration and historical naturalisation. The term can also refer to their descendants. Bengali Muslims have prominently been migrating to the UK since the 1940s. Migration reached its peak during the 1970s, with most originating from the Sylhet Division. The largest concentration live in east London boroughs, such as Tower Hamlets. ''Life Goes On'' is a 2009 film by Sangeeta Datta. It shows how a Hindu family in Britain copes with the death of the wife and mother. The story recalls Shakespeare’s ''King Lear''. BBC Asian Network is a British Asian radio station owned and operated by the BBC.
