Lees Camp, Oregon
Lees Camp (also Lee's Camp) is an unincorporated community in Tillamook County, Oregon, United States. It is along Oregon Route 6 about northeast of Tillamook at the confluence of the Wilson River and North Fork Wilson River, surrounded by the Tillamook State Forest. It is near the summit of the Northern Oregon Coast Range. Lees Camp was established by Rex Lee, who in 1939 bought of land on the Wilson River near the mouth of the North Fork from the Reeher family. Lee developed the place as a tourist and sportsmen's camp called Lee's Wilson River Camp. In 1947, a post office with the name Lee's Camp was established. It was nearly in the same location as an earlier post office named Wilson, which ran from 1896 to 1917, with mail to Gales Creek. Wilson post office served the Glenora station of the United States Weather Bureau. The Northern Oregon Coast Range is the northern section of the Oregon Coast Range, in the Pacific Coast Ranges physiographic region, located in the northwest portion of the state of Oregon, United States. Tillamook Forest Center
The Tillamook State Forest is a publicly owned forest in the U.S. state of Oregon. Managed by the Oregon Department of Forestry, it is located west of Portland in the Northern Oregon Coast Range, and spans Washington, Tillamook, Yamhill, and Clatsop counties. The forest receives large amounts of precipitation and is dominated by Douglas-fir trees. Activities include commercial logging, recreation, and other commercial resource extraction activities such as mushroom hunting. Glendale, Oregon
Glendale is a city in Douglas County, Oregon, United States. The population was 874 at the 2010 census. History After construction of a railroad line south from Roseburg in 1881–83, Solomon Abraham, the local right-of-way agent, platted the community and named it "Julia" after his wife. After a dispute with Abraham, A. F. Morris, the chief engineer for the railroad, changed the name to "Glendale". A Julia post office was established in February 1883, and its name was changed to Glendale in August of the same year. L. D. Montgomery was the first postmaster. Fire destroyed much of Glendale's business district in 1928. Glendale was quickly rebuilt. In the 1880s, Russian-Jewish immigrants came here trying to escape the anti-Semitic rule of Alexander III. Glenwood, Washington County, Oregon
Glenwood is an unincorporated community in Washington County, Oregon, United States, northwest of Forest Grove on Oregon Route 6. The name Glenwood was first used for this locale around 1880. The post office was established in 1886 as "Glenwood", although it was not always in the same location. In the 1920s, the Gales Creek and Wilson River Railroad had a terminal station nearby named "Aagaard" (or "Aagard") after Olaf B. Aagaard, owner of the Aagaard Lumber Company. The Gales Creek Logging Company also operated a site at or near this original mill. The name of the station was soon changed to Glenwood to match the post office. Multiple lumber companies operated in this area and one of these operations is thought to have been a possible cause of the start of the first Tillamook Burn fires.
