Leendert Bosch
Leendert Bosch (13 November 1924 – 20 January 2017) was a Dutch biochemist. He was a professor of biochemistry at Leiden University from 1964 to 1990. Bosch was born on 13 November 1924 in Appingedam. He obtained his title of Doctor at Delft University of Technology in 1955, with a dissertation titled "Biochemische en endocrinologische onderzoekingen van normaal en neoplastisch weefsel : de stofwisseling van oestrogeen producerende ovariumtumoren" (Biochemical and endocrinological research of normal and neoplastic tissue: the metabolism of oestrogen producing ovarian tumors). In 1961 Bosch was named lector of biochemistry in extraordinary service at Leiden University. In 1963 he became a regular lector, and in 1964 he was named professor. Bosch was elected a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1978. He was elected a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization in 1982. NRC Handelsblad
''NRC'', previously called ''NRC Handelsblad'' (), is a daily morning newspaper published in the Netherlands by NRC Media. It is generally accepted as a newspaper of record in the Netherlands. History ''NRC Handelsblad'' was first published on 1 October 1970 after a merger of the Amsterdam newspaper ''Algemeen Handelsblad'' (founded 1828 by J.W. van den Biesen) and the Rotterdam ''Nieuwe Rotterdamsche Courant'' (founded 1844 by Henricus Nijgh). ''Trouw'' (; ) is a Dutch daily newspaper appearing in compact size. It was founded in 1943 as an orthodox Protestant underground newspaper during World War II. Since 2009, it has been owned by DPG Media (known as De Persgroep until 2019). ''Trouw'' received the European Newspaper Award in 2012. Cees van der Laan is the current editor-in-chief. History ''Trouw'' is a Dutch word meaning "fidelity", "loyalty", or "allegiance", and is cognate with the English adjective "true". The name was chosen to reflect allegiance and loyalty to God and Country in spite of the German occupation of the Netherlands. The Christian Democratic Appeal ( nl, Christen-Democratisch Appèl, ; CDA) is a Christian-democratic political party in the Netherlands. It was originally formed in 1977 from a confederation of the Catholic People's Party, the Anti-Revolutionary Party and the Christian Historical Union; it has participated in all but three cabinets since it became a unitary party. The European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) is a professional, non-profit organization of more than 1,800 life scientists. Its goal is to promote research in life science and enable international exchange between scientists.
