Leeming Bar
Leeming Bar is a village in the civil parish of Aiskew and Leeming Bar, in the Hambleton District of North Yorkshire, England. The village lay on the original Great North Road (Great Britain), Great North Road (Dere Street) before being bypassed. It is now home to a large industrial estate and the main operating site of the Wensleydale Railway. It is in the Historic counties of England, historic North Riding of Yorkshire. Governance An Wards and electoral divisions of the United Kingdom, electoral ward in the same name exists. This ward stretches north to Kirkby Fleetham with a total population of approximately 1800 (as of 2005) and of 1,966 at the 2011 census. Aiskew And Leeming Bar
Aiskew and Leeming Bar is a civil parish within the Bedale ward of North Yorkshire, England. The parish only has two settlements (Aiskew and Leeming Bar), but prior to the changes in the 19th century, the area it contains belonged to the parish of Bedale. At the 2011 Census, the population of the parish was 2,427 History Aiskew village is mentioned in the Domesday Book, but Leeming Bar came about after the Domesday survey, being a point on the crossroads of the Great North Road and the turnpike road to Kendal. A large part of the parish on the western, southern and eastern sides, has a boundary division through Bedale Beck; this means that certain buildings deemed to be in Bedale, such as the Bedale signalbox and railway station, and the Leech House, are actually within the parish of Aiskew and Leeming Bar. Londonderry, North Yorkshire
Londonderry is a village near the Yorkshire Dales, England situated south-east of Bedale, almost on the A1 road. It is part of the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire and is in the historic North Riding of Yorkshire. It is named after the Marquesses of Londonderry, who took their name from County Londonderry, now in Northern Ireland, and were colliery owners in this area of England. Londonderry Lodge was a former Transport Café in the village. The café is now closed, having served the traffic on the A1 road for 100 years. The building has been listed as Grade II since 1966. With the upgrading of the A1 to A1(M) standard, the junction with the A1 was diverted away from Londonderry (with even the new service road, the A6055, taking a route west of the new road as opposed to going through the hamlet). A6055 Road
The A6055 is a stretch of road in North Yorkshire that runs from Knaresborough to Boroughbridge, with a break, then starts up again at Junction 50 of the A1(M) to run parallel with A1(M) acting as a Local Access Road (LAR) going between Junction 50 and 56 at Barton. Responsibility for the route rests with the Highways Agency, as it is designated as a primary route associated with the A1(M) upgrade. Route It runs in a North-northeast direction from the A59 at Bond End in Knaresborough where it is called Boroughbridge Road, through the Stockwells Estate. It exits Knaresborough just past Greengate Lane where it turns directly north, before once again resuming a northeasterly direction at a sharp bend on the junction with Farnham Lane.
