Ryan Leef
Ryan Leef (born December 28, 1973) is a Canadian politician, who represented the riding of Yukon in the House of Commons of Canada as a member of the Conservative Party from 2011 to 2015. Early life Born in Ontario in 1973, Leef grew up in Dawson City, Yukon. He has overseen prisoners as an assistant superintendent at Whitehorse Correctional Centre which was his most recent employment prior to politics. He is also a former member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, a Wildlife Officer and an investigator for Yukon Department of Justice. He has also fought in the cage as a Mixed Martial Arts fighter. He is a strong supporter and advocate of the sport. Leef's family moved to the Yukon in 1984 and he has subsequently lived in many communities throughout the territory. Leef lives in Whitehorse and has one son, Aaron. Daphni Leef ( he, דפני ליף; born 7 January 1986) is an Israeli social activist, video artist, and editor. In July 2011 she initiated the 2011 Israeli Social Justice Protest that took place in Tel Aviv and were the largest social protests in Israel's history. Following the civil protest Leef focused on issues regarding fair housing in Israel and established various independent social projects. In 2017 Leef debuted the first movie she directed named '' Before My Feet Touch the Ground'', which is a documentary about the 2011 protest from her personal perceptive. The film was chosen to open the Docaviv - Tel Aviv International Documentary Film Festival in May 2017, and was part of the official selection of the 2017 International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam. John Ewbank Leefe
John Ewbank Leefe FLS (1813–1889) was an English amateur botanist and vicar in the Church of England. He was a leading expert on the British willows (''Salix''). Education and career In 1831 he matriculated at Trinity College, Cambridge. He graduated there B.A. (''24th Wrangler'') in 1835 and M.A. in 1838. He was ordained a deacon (Oxford) in 1838 and became a priest in 1840. He became in 1841 a vicar at St Mary the Virgin, Saffron Walden (near the Audley End House and Gardens). From 1844 to 1849 he was a canon at Bishopwearmouth. From 1849 to 1882 he was the vicar of Cresswell, Northumberland. He retired to Highcliff, Coatham, Redcar. Leefe was elected a Fellow of the Linnean Society on 19 November 1868. He was a member of the Tynesides Naturalists' Field Club (founded in 1846), became there vice-president, and president from 1873 to 1874.
